This has also been Veeti Väisänens semi coming out to party. Kiviharju, Muhonen, Soini and Väisänen really good 4 defenders for 2024

Euro bros, is the on-ice taunting in English? I doubt many Finnish kids speak German, and doubly so vice-versa.

Kevin Bicker with his second of the tournament! We won’t be shutout!!
Took advantage of the forced turnover, stuck with the shot, and scored on the rebound. Nice.

He’s a very tenacious forchecker. There’s a reason he’s in Alder Mannheim’s system.

I like that Mayer is jumping into the play more and activating the defence more. We’ve been so timid and he’s playing a more defensive game when he should be playing to impress scouts at this point.

This has been the best game Germany has played by far.

Doge has kept this relatively close. Funny that in my opinion Doge came into the tournament as the #3 but has stood above the rest.

Mayer has been excellent in his own zone. And I feel like Germany would have had 3-4 more goals against than we currently have.

Good game for the Finns, congratulations on the W and moving onto the semi’s.

However I’m very proud of what the German team did today. We kept the high quality shots to a minimum, goaltending stood on their heads and it was a competitive game, through and through.

I was impressed, too.

And they managed that without Vinzens and Tropmann.
Normally, when we are missing a couple of our best players things get ugly.

Now, maybe those two aren't as good and impactful as I think they are, but I'd like to think the depth is just better than I expected.

Bicker, Mayer and Brandl are the standouts among the skaters so far.
In goal both Pertuch and Döge have shown some good stuff. Willerscheid was disappointing, but I still remain hopeful for him, because I have already seen that he can be so much better.

I also liked Ruckdäschel for the most partm especially defensively. I would have liked to see more offense from him and Sumpf, but they have been good team players at least.

Agreed on Ruckdashel and Sumpf. I have been disappointed in the offense from Sumpf but he always seems to be the first forward back to backcheck - Ruckdäschel has shown creativity and a power game in the offensive zone but more often than not he is swarmed by 3-4 defenders without any help.
Bicker has been a revelation for me and is probably now the most notable prospect out of Germany for 2023. I don't think he'll ever be a top-line guy in the NHL but I don't see why he can't be a bottom-6 player for many years in the NHL, I know that scouts have circled his name after his performance.

Button sees top 5 talent in him, im not so sure I agree with him. I think he’s a strong candidate for top 15 but I don’t think he’s been a top 3 player on this Finnish team thus far.

Yeah that's probably gonna change and I think he even gave those vibes out too.. but he's a guy who put Kemell ahead of Cooley, for some reason. So he does have weird takes.

Top 5 is not realistic at all. Top 10 seems best case for him and he's probably gonna need to come to London to do it.

This whole tournament, Halttunen has disappointed. Just hasn't achieved much. Compare to someone like Emil Järventie and Halttunen looks pedestrian.

Even being a first rounder would require a great performance in Liiga and he's on Tappara who's a top contender who definitely will not be handing any ice time for development purposes.

If Halttunen goes to London that could raise his stock but Finnish players have usually taken some time adjusting to CHL.

Now, I know that Slafkovsky didn't have an amazing Liiga season either but I REALLY can't see Halttunen having international performances like Slafkovsky. Even though I think Slafkovsky has his issues, Halttunen is honestly not even close. I doubt he even makes the u20 team.
