Hutson will be a superstar, mark my words.

I hope you're right, but I think his ceiling is pretty much Torey Krug.

There's a good chance his offense and talent translate to the NHL, but the challenge for him will be to find a way not to be a defensive liability who's easily pushed around by big attackers. If he cannot, coaches will never trust him with big minutes. And with his size, it's more likely that it doesn't happen.

People are disrespecting my boy Harris big time. Short term memory galore :shakehead
I have been voting Harris since #3, but I like all the guys above him. I though about voting all the guys that got voted ahead of him. Hutson will be the first guy that I haven't thought about voting for. But no hard feelings there - people love him and so that's kind of exciting.

But yeah I think Harris could be a good one.

Hutson should have been 2nd, so going with him for the 7th time here.
I think habs fans are too quick with Hutson. We have to see how he could translate into nhl level.
If he was that good, he should have been early in the first round. But maybe because of his size he dropped in the ranking. Like MSL and Gourde who never been drafted. I have great interrest to see him play vs nhl pros.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing how he does in NCAA - I think that will show us a lot.

Hutson is a long term project. Probably 3-4 years. But reward might get impressive in his case.

I know Harris is supposed to become really good but there is competition. Primeau is almost an nhl goalie now, Heineman might be already an nhler and there is Hutson, Mailloux, RHP and nothers. At this rank (8th), they're all very close. But it's interresting to read different opinions. I feel like a gm who listen what his scouts says about the players who should be picked.

I hope so. :)

I see ppl vote according to the long term projection, like the very high possible ceiling. More marging errors if ppl vote this way. Personnally I tend to vote on the short-middle term. Like who can play nhl within 2 years, top 6 forwards, top 4 defense or bottom forwards line or 5 to 7th D. To speculate into 4 years is almost going into random for my hockey knowlage level. 4 years, lot of things can change like personal problems, injuries, etc.

Why is Farrell #3, I didn’t even remember he existed.. What made him go higher than the 4 guys after him?

Farrell this year:
28 points in 24 NCAA games
6 points in 4 Olympic games (USA)
6 points in 10 World Championship games (USA)

You are wondering why a guy that went over 1 PPG in the NCAA and made both the Olympic and WC roster for the USA is ranked high?

That's not even accounting for just watching him play and seeing his tools.

Nah I had him ranked 10th on my board going into the draft and was screaming to pick him at 26. Wouldn't be surprised to see him end up more valuable than Slaf when we look back in 5-10 years

Point is bigger and heavyer. The Point of today and not the 18 yr old player. Reminds me Naslund who was short but built like a truck. Koivu and Bouillon were little trucks too. Yserman, etc.

I remember sports analyst always quoting Theoren Fleury and MSL, as examples of small players who can succeed at a great ceiling in nhl. But I would say not all the small players are exceptionals like the players I mentioned. And translate into nhl success. That's a debate argument and might be intentional to keep more smaller players in nhl because they want to see great speed game or look less like 'football hockey'. Maybe the sports medias wants that because they know the ratings depending on witch teams play.

About a small player make an impact in the game, the answer is yes they can because of these names mentioned, and others, lol, I can include Desharnais who wasn't draft but he did played in nhl level. Let's ignore I mentioned dd, don't wanna elaborate on this.
Mete is playing in nhl ... but ... does he contribute to some success with his team or he just do nhl regular shifts, getting beaten 70% of time? Sam Girard was celebrating with the SC in his home village somewhere lac st jean, he's small and he did it. Hutson can become as good as Girard and Debrincat. As long as he doesn't fall into the montreal night life, that's a trap for young players, we lost too many high prospect in the past with that social problem.

Another small D player in the history : Bobby Orr and before him Doug Harvey.
