Liam Bichsel is a 6’5, 210lbs LHD
I really like Lian Bichsel. He seems to be on the rise in rankings. I would really like it if the Kings could draft one of Bichsel or Lindgren (or both :)).
Also Noah Warren even though we are deep at the moment on RD we wont always be.
Since we won't be in the top 12 picking in the draft I would like to see them trade down to pick up an extra pick to target these players (the draft seems to fall off a bit after the top 12).

I'm on the Cutter bandwagon, but I agree he will probably be gone.

One guy who intrigues me is Lekkerimaki. I think he could go anywhere from 12 to the late first, dude has a wicked shot when he cranks it up. Accurate too.

With where we are drafting and recent news... Barring we keep our pick and close to ~20 I would like them to take a chance on Miroshnichenko. Would not mind otherwise going with who drops or Mateychuk, Mintyukov, Kasper, or McGroarty.

Given this whole war in the Ukraine and out general lack of success with them, I would not touch a Russian with a 10-foot pole Right now

I know guys don’t want anymore small forwards but I would really like the kings to take Firkus if he’s available. They have him listed as a Center but he’s been playing the wing all year in Moose Jaw and I just think he’s going to be really good.

I think they’re at a point where they might again go for who they think is BPA and trade up and end up with another 3-4 players

If Lambert is there at 18, it's a huge red flag and a huge green flag.

If he's falling that much in the draft ranks, it's usually because his progress isn't lining up with expectation as opposed to others just passing him. We've seen this before with guys like Esposito. We've also seen guys fall and then be great picks like Sykora. So some times it pans out big to grab a faller, more often than not it doesn't.

That said, if any team should take a flyer on a guy with huge upside, it's a team that's already got a huge talent pool and can arguably afford a swing and miss type. LA is definitely in that position. I still say we deal the pick on draft day but if we don't I hope we take a huge swing at a guy that could be a game breaker. We can absorb a miss easier than most.

I'm working on a list of draftable players (still a work in progress). I'd like it if some of you could look at it and tell me the things that need fixing (i.e.....players that are listed more than once, players that aren't listed, mistakes on players listed.....etc. ) Also opinions on improving the list.

How many of you would trade our pick first round pick (#21-ish) for two second round picks (#33 and #43) if the Kings could?

I looked at an article on the value of draft picks (What does it cost to trade up in the draft?) and it looks like that would be around equivalent value.......

I would be all for it unless a prospect the Kings scouting staff has ranked much higher fell to them at #21.
It seems like the draft drops off a little after the top ten and I feel like the Kings scouting staff could great value out of the two second round picks........

Honestly this seems to be a year where you take a gamble on possibly a skilled Russian or a faller in the draft.

Kings have a lot of forward prospects who are young and may need time to grow. It’d be ok to grab someone and toss them into whatever league they play in and let them simmer.

Kings have to try their prospects they have now and there aren’t a lot of spots open right now. And more of the Euro draft picks will be coming over sooner or later.

Who is this top 10 you speak of? There are a few names which tend to be in the top ten then around 10+ names I have seen fill the 5-10 range. It seems as of now that Wright, Cooley, Slafovsky, and Nemec are probably in the top 5 and safe in the top 10. From there Savoie, Jiricek, and Kemell seem likely to be top 10 or semi safe at this time. After those 7 though you seen an array including yet not limited to: Yurov, Geekie, Mirosnichenko (even post injury), Lambert, Lekkerimaki, Mintyukov, Nazar, Mateychuk, and Gauthier. From those I think Geekie and Nazar will end up being safe bets as top 10 with the former usually there yet lower on some rankings.

I would prefer to try and move up like last draft as opposed to move down. We are littered with quantity we require quality.

Mentioned it before yet I would love if Lambert or Miroshnichenko dropped and we went for a home-run swing.

The Kings don't need a higher quantity of prospects.

I’m hoping they take a CHL player so the optimal development path is locked in for us. I’d be concerned with them messing up another NCAA or European player by rushing them to Ontario.

Although we don't need quantity, it would be good to have more chances at striking gold with a player. With just one 1st round pick, you are putting all your eggs in one basket. Drafting two players in the second round gives you great odds that one of the two ends up being a solid pick. After seeing Vilardi and Turcotte, and other soon to be busts picked in the 1st round by other teams, I would rather take my chances on more second round picks. Heck, Kaliyev was drafted in the second round and is a way better player than Turcotte who was drafted significantly higher.

Just stay away from drafting smurfs and we'll do fine.

Yes who would want a Quinn Hughes, Cole Caufield, Victor Arvidsson, Jordan Spence type player. They are completely useless, let's keep drafting bigger players and gritty character players since it's worked out so great up until now.

Yeah, here we go......
The black and white is in full swing. Small=Talented, Big=Gritty and untalented.

Just out of interest, would you prefer Arvidson/Caufield over Rantanen or Lizotte over McKinnon?

Fact is that the big and talented teams crush the opposition since years and the teams with a bunch of smurfs find them self at the bottom of the league.
It goes even so far that whole teams cry in public about the size of certain goal tenders in the cup finals.

What we need is to continue to draft for speed and size
