Prospect Info: 2022 8OA, Marco Kasper

This seems like such a cheapskate thing to do.

What other team in the league does this to their young guys? And how much does it impact Kasper’s salary this year?
Seems like a SOP kinda thing, and I am sure we had a conversation with him ahead of time to tell him we would be doing this throughout the year.

Probably people on here making a bigger deal out of something that is nothing to the parties involved.

Kasper is being given the best offensive opportunities on the entire roster playing next to our 2 best players, short of being on PP1. He's been given these minutes without necessarily killing it in the AHL or in the 4th line minutes he was getting before. I highly doubt he gives a shit about some paper moves.

I would say the fact that the Stars assistant GM says they chose not to do it with Miro Heiskanen actually implies it happens quite frequently.

Zeroing in on one of the first guys I recognized in a somewhat similar situation, Alexander Holtz name shows up 8 times going up/down since late January while never actually playing an AHL game

Yes he is, it's not the best look especially for young players.

Hopefully next CBA can fix this from a players union perspective. This is ALOT of money early for a player risking his career without major earnings yet. I understand it too overall, but I don't like it and for the Red Wings specifically, can hardly see the reasoning... (until they use up every bit of cap space on a trade/move this season)
The NHLPA won’t do anything to address that. If they want that concession from owners, what are they willing to give up in return? Something that affects such a small percentage of players isn’t worth fighting for if you have to give up something that will affect even more players.
