Prospect Info: 2022 8OA, Marco Kasper

How many teams last 15 years won the cup with 50pt only centers?
Larkin is basically a ppg center. So if your second center is 50-60 and you have wingers like Raymond who is 22 and should get around 90 points this year, and debrincat who is a 30-40 goal player, you have a very good mix up front.

On the back end of you have seider, edvinsson, and asp, you're looking very good there too.

And one of cossa or Augustine or both tending twine, it's definitely a very good core

Same deal in his first season in the AHL last year, Kaspers' first half in GR he scored like 5 pts, in the last 45 games of the season he put up 30pts.

I think in this case it's pretty obviously the promotion.

You could argue that it's questionable because he's just doing it with Larkin and Raymond, but at least he can do it. Zadina got thrown on the top line multiple times and still couldn't produce.

Yeah, looking at Kasper, I was always generally torn exactly how we was going to end up in terms of role, position, ceiling, etc. What I was pretty convinced was his floor. He was always going to be a useful player. What I wasn't sure is if he was going to end up as a physical, disruptive Top 6 Winger like in the mold of a Oshie, Brown, Marchand, etc. - or if he was going to be able to be play as a true pivot in the middle six like a Ryan Kesler. I think the jury is still out as his career has been all of 12 minutes long but to your point, it's good to see that he can perform in the short stint he's had in the top line in that winger role.

Its a combo of the promotion to a true scoring line and also not being put at center. The minute he started playing at wing he started to put up points. He doesn't have to be first man back. He can use his grit and forecheck to get in along the boards and drive the net. If you have to be 1st man back you can't be a consistent net front/ boards guy.

Right now he is getting dirty goals and that is a great add on to that top line. He still needs to continue to work on his distribution and shooting skills, which will determine if he can play that Kesler/ Staal type game at center long term. Getting some points and getting some confidence offensively should really help him to start to push the skill side of his game.

I think his floor is a Bertuzzi (in Detroit)/ Cleary (prime) gritty winger, but with way better defensive ability (in Berts case), or put as the 3rd line shutdown center (selke worthy). I'm hoping his skills start to blossom after a season or two and wing and we get that Kesler style center out of him.

Last season he was mostly 3rd/4th line and recovering from a broken knee cap with no training camp. This year he was playing with mostly bad players, save for a few good games between Tank and Burgers.

Pretty good company

Tarasenko was put on the top line and couldn't score either.
Same with Ras.

I just realized Marco is only like 4 months older than Danielson. Very encouraged by his play recently and hopefully he can make me eat much more crow.
He still has baby fat and there’s been a lot of apprehension in his game until recently. Imagine how disruptive he’ll be when he gets his man strength and has confidence.
