Helm is maybe my favorite role player ever. But yeah Kasper needs to be more than that to be a hit in my opinion. That or Danielson becomes a legit 2C or more
Kasper is very close to already being more than Helm. I see absolutely no reason to think he won’t reach at least a decent 2C level.

The skills are passing the eye test but he needs to convert those to points. Helm could play with any player and his game would be the same, but Kasper needs scoring wingers to be effective.

I'd prefer a 2C that can score goals, but if Kasper can drive the play and notch a ridiculous number of assists then that'll be better than anything we've seen since Z retired and Larkin got promoted to 1C.

Kasper currently and pre draft was never expected to be a big point getter. A very good outcome is him being a 40-50pt 2 way player. It was unfortunately a very weak draft, and no forward drafted after him is currently better.

Watching him live last night, he had a some great chances and just didn't couldn't quite finish..but he is only 20 years old and clearly is willing to work at it.

I said the same about Helm then watched him flub breakaways for 13 years, lol.

It's why I said he should spend more time in GR. He's gonna have to figure it out in the NHL now.

I mean, he didn't flub anything. He was just really close on a few. It also doesn't help that he's playing with Black Hole Veleno right now....

Looked great today, 2 assists. Up to 7 points in 20 games and I think the points are going to keep coming, especially if they remove Joey from the lineup and give him and Burger a legit player to skate with.
He had a rough OT shift but I thought today was probably the best game of Kasper and Berggrens careers.

Kasper is starting to get comfortable, and the points are starting to come

Call me crazy , but I think Kasper is gonna have a few seasons where he will get between 70-80 points. He reminds me of Sean Couturier in some ways, good two-way player who at his peak was contributing greatly offensively.

He has really good hands already, I think he has the potential to be a pretty big point producer. Hes doing things at top speed and being responsible in his own end which is impressive.

Watched the Bruins Red Wings game tonight. Very impressed with Kasper again. Likely outcomes range from Cirelli to Bennett to Kesler. I don't quite think he can get to prime Couturier, but that's the absolute ceiling that he theoretically could hit. And theoretical floor is one of Backlund's meh years. Solid solid overall.

The broadcast was absolutely slobbering all over him last night. Even though that goal got disallowed, Kasper has probably the last 6 games or so been Detroits third best forward consistently behind Larkin and Raymond. Couturier is a selke winning close to 80 point guy at his best, that's a high bar I doubt he hits.

But Kesler is also a 40 goal mSelke winner, that's also a pretty high bar to hit as well. I wouldn't put money on either outcome, but the way Kasper has found his game... He's trending more in that direction right now than towards only a third line center like some people on here thought his upside was

Peak Kesler only lasted for 2 years (injuries slowed his career down after the 2011 Cup Final run) but his post peak was still very solid. Peak Couturier lasted for 3-4 years, also slowed down by injuries. Both styles are hard on the body, so Kasper will need good fortune to stay healthy to reach anywhere close to those peaks.

Wish he had been rewarded yesterday, but he's definitely playing well and showing a lot more offense than expected.

In a 2022 redraft where would he go? I can only think of a few players I'd definitely take ahead of him right now.

I had a look and really thinking about it, these are the guys I see above him in hindsight;

Slavkofsky
Cooley
Maybe Nemec, though I've never been very impressed with him.
Possibly Cutter Gauthier. I think he could be a regular 30-30 guy.
Maybe Mintyukov? Though his defense is really bad.
Maybe Miroshnichenko? He could turn into a superstar, or he could become just an OK 2nd/3rd liner.

Savoie, Korchinski, Wright, Jiricek look to be not realgud.
Lekkerimaki gives me mixed emotions, as does Nazar.

Right, I did the same exercise and I was like damn..he might go 4-5 in my own personal redraft.

He had some really good moments yesterday. Particularly noticed his speed through neutral zone as well as that nice redirection that was called back.

That said, I do notice a fair amount of turnovers. Trying to find the exact number from last night's game but there were times we had a ton of momentum, especially on the PP, and he would either easily turnover the puck to the guy defending him, or make a bad pass. Hopefully he gets this situated.

I know it's too early to say for sure, but I think Kasper's flashes of brilliance on ice are much more impressive than many others drafted before and after him. He's such a smart player that I'm confident he'll figure out a way to be a solid contributor.

Hutson is currently better than Nemec. Gauthier may be right with Kasper right now. Mintyukov has taken a step back this season, but is still very solid for 10th overall.
