Prospect Info: 2022 31st Overall Pick | LW Isaac Howard

I'm not a big Howard guy and felt he was trade bait from the moment I heard him speak at the draft...but he's not acting entitled here. Well within his rights, no bad blood or perceived disrespect (i.e Gauthier)...it's just part of the game sometimes. If he doesn't see an imminent NHL path with TB, I think he will get traded and all will be fine. It happens, no point in getting mad at the guy.

He is acting entitled. If it's true he doesn't want to go to Syracuse. Gauthier was drafted 37th overall and took the ATO and is in Syracuse. Howard is the better prospect but not worlds better to where he can ask for things our next best prospect can't.

Gauthier is there because his CHL season is done.

You're absolutely right. But no one is really gonna help us rebuild unless it's a sell off of a guy like Hagel in a few years. The Hedman's, Kucherov's, Stamkos'... we're gonna draft them 1st and 2nd overall. I give it 3 years from this season at least before we need to seriously worry. That window is wiiiiiddddeeeee open this year, next year and arguably 1 more season after.

If we win the Cup one last time, there won't be anything stopping us in that rebuild
It's really all about Hedman. The rest of the major pieces are still around the age where players win cups.

Our D is getting older though, with both of the key pieces being in their last few effective years.

...but we are about to have cap space. That could help acquire replacements. Or make trade pieces more expendable.

If we could get a #1D 28-31, the window would be pretty wide open again. Easier said than done, I know.

This is exactly how I feel - our forward group is still well in their prime and I could totally see players like Kucherov/Guentzel, who generate pretty much entirely off of being the smartest guys on the ice, remaining effective later in their 30s.

Getting young top 4d is obviously very difficult but it does happen, look at Washington with Sandin & Chychrun, St. Louis with Broberg, hell Utah built their d-core from the ground up last season. If there's a team I'd love for JBB to hone in on it would be Utah - a glut of rd with one of Durzi, MavLam, Kesselring, or Marino on the outside looking in. If you can move Isaac Howard + for Kesselring or trade Howard for assets to acquire Kesselring I would feel fantastic about that move.

The Flyers have 3 first rounders this year and it sounds like they are open to moving one of their later ones (24 or 25 right now currently could be later depending how Colorado and Edmonton finish), so provided Howard would sign with Philly anyone open to that?

I'd prefer a prospect that's closer to ready, but I'd be okay with sending him to Philly.

This is apparently not the best draft year, so late in the first round may not be too valuable.

On Scott Wheeler's top 100 list, Howard is on tier 5, number 55.

PHI's Oliver Bonk is number 42
UTA's Maveric Lamoureux is number 51
CHI's Sam Rinzel is number 54 (between Geekie and Howard)
NJ's Seamus Casey is 57 (born and raised in Florida until age 12)
ANA's Tristan Luneau is the top of tier 6, number 59
ANA's Stian Solberg is number 66

I can look a bit further, but these guys are right around Howard's ranking (as of Scott Wheeler's ranking two months ago)

If the Devils will part with Casey then send it. I doubt it. But send it

Casey is 5'9. I don't know if TB would really go for that.
I could really care less how tall the dude is. He is the ever elusive RHD is pretty decent offensively. I just need the dude to be Marc-Andre Bergeron with a little better defense. The latter really isn't that much to ask. We can ask someone else to shut the game down

Anton Stralman is listed at 5'11. It's not a dealbreaker for us, but we might be able to get some extra height for free.

Yeah, I understand the organizational philosophy of size on the back end. But 1 guy isn't gonna make or break it. Casey is probably my ideal ask but I don't know why NJ would think they need another offensive weapon in Howard

Yeah zero chance that happens

Give me Rinzel
Chicago isn't parting with Rinzel, at least not for Howard, according to pretty much every Chicaho fan I've heard talk about. From them, the best Tampa would probably be able to get would be one of Allan, Del Mastro, Kaiser, or maybe Korchinski.

Yeah I've stated it a few times in the thread he's probably not available but I mean according to that chart they are similar value/rank so I'll take him if it's a possibility.

I think that chart was before Rinzel actually played a few games in the league for them. I think his value has gone up considerably in their eyes since then. Tampa might be able to find a way to get him, but the add(s) to Howard that would be needed would likely be extensive.
