Howard's rep messed up a bit. If he had publicly said that Howard wanted to go back to school for educational and national championship purposes, maybe we would have bought that. Probably not.

Paul Kariya winning the Hobey and going back to Maine for another semester (and the Olympics) tracks. Isaac 'best looking guy at the draft' Howard, not as much.

I think we add for a young Dman unless he also has yet to play in the NHL.

Any young D that has established himself in the NHL is going to get more than a guy who's 21 and yet to play pro. His college achievements, with the context of his age, aren't as impressive as some of us ththink.
It's possible, and depending on the add, I'd consider it if it was a dman that will likely help the team for years to come and has a #4 type ceiling. Tampa is well set at F for the next few years, and they have a few prospects that could help.at some point. With Hedman and McD getting older, adding a young dman or NHL ready def prospect, plus adding a vet dman maybe at next year's tdl or next summer, would go.a long way to shoring up the blue line as well for future seasons.

Do we know this for a fact? Did Howard, his advisor, or BriseBois explicitly state that this was the request?
I don't think it matters at this point. I'm frustrated as hell that JBB can't get another player signed (AGAIN!) but literally everything I was worried about didn't happen. But if we were seriously gonna burn a year off an ELC for 2 games and all Howard had to do was show up next year and win his spot in camp like literally everyone else, then good luck kid. We already rolled the red carpet out for you. Yeah JBB needs to do better getting these college kids signed. But this is pure dipshittery of the highest order from a guy in his +3 draft year.

I could care less if someone carved "Sunny was wrong again" on my gravestone and laughed. I care about the Lightning getting it right and not me. And as far as I'm concerned this was handled properly. I don't know what Howard thought was going to happen

Ohhh baby! Does he shoot right handed?? 👀 👀
If we could get an NHL ready top 4 RHD we should be all over it. Biggest need on this team is an heir to Hedman. You can then push Raddysh down to bottom 6 and hide him a bit, let Perbix go in free agency, and keep Lilleberg as a #7

Won’t be cheap but Howard would at least get us a conversation

Here are RHD under 24 that have played at least 1 game in the NHL this year. only names that really pop out to me that id be comfortable making a realistic move for are Seamus Casey, Sam Rinzel, Simon Nemec, and Brandt Clarke. id even move the LA 2nd to make a deal happen if need be

How about Jamie Drysdale if the Flyers are interested?

Rinzle would be ideal but I don’t think the blackhawks would do it. Clarke same thing he’s basically untouchable

Nemec is biiiggggg suck. Laaazzzyyyy. Like if the Devils fans who won't even give up Dawson f***ing Mercer in any hypothetical trade if have given up on a 2nd overall pick.

*crosses myself like a catholic do*

I don't know if Anaheim would do it 1-for-1, but Tristan Luneau makes sense if we're talking about RHD.

I'd prefer a RHD, but I'm more so looking at a post-Hedman and McD era, so a lefty is fine.

We aren’t going to get a guy who has no warts if they have a high ceiling, the question is if he’s a guy we can work with. Flyers have so many picks they would probably be the ones willing to give us fair value, but I would personally rather have a guy ready to step in and fill a role. Free agency crop sucks

Moser blunts their loss a bit. Cernak is a big injury risk and the thought of Raddysh taking most of the high leverage draws is terrifying.

A RHD, you won’t be running into a Sergachev situation where they are being bottlenecked. Give me a RHD please!

I feel like LD is a bigger need going forward. Hedman and McDonagh are getting old. The RD we have aren't as good but they are at least a few years from 30. Moser can go play his natural side but that leaves Lilleberg as the next best anywhere in the system and that isn't gonna cut it.

I like that kind of depth with Serge on the third pair.

TB's head amateur scout is John Riley. He's been involved with the Norwegian national team a few times. Anaheim's LHD Stian Solberg played on Norway's U20 team when he was there. That may be something to watch.

Norway's WC team in 2023 had Emil Lilleberg and prospect Noah Steen.

I still think he's the type of player that you take a risk on if Jersey is dumb enough to move him. Nemec has shown flashes of being an elite offensive talent which we don't really have in our pipeline and will be desperately needed once Hedman retires

You're absolutely right. But no one is really gonna help us rebuild unless it's a sell off of a guy like Hagel in a few years. The Hedman's, Kucherov's, Stamkos'... we're gonna draft them 1st and 2nd overall. I give it 3 years from this season at least before we need to seriously worry. That window is wiiiiiddddeeeee open this year, next year and arguably 1 more season after.

If we win the Cup one last time, there won't be anything stopping us in that rebuild

I would 100% give up Howard+ for Solberg, he was very high on my list and thought he was a top 15 prospect in the draft last year. He gives off Cernak vibes and i would love to see him paired with Moser in the future

The way he plays gives me the same concerns as Cernak or Gudas. Can he play that way over the long haul?

I'm not a big Howard guy and felt he was trade bait from the moment I heard him speak at the draft...but he's not acting entitled here. Well within his rights, no bad blood or perceived disrespect (i.e Gauthier)...it's just part of the game sometimes. If he doesn't see an imminent NHL path with TB, I think he will get traded and all will be fine. It happens, no point in getting mad at the guy.

Both of these players have had very respectable careers. If you land a Gudas or Cernak that's pretty damn good imo.

Its more so the amount of conflicting reports that are changing the narrative of what happened on each side that made a deal not happen when it should have. first it was we didnt want to burn a year of his ELC and he didnt want to go to Syracuse, then he comes out and says he just wanted to be apart of the playoffs even if he doesnt play, then reports came out we would have burned the year and played him the last 2 games of the season. so many "He said, he said" things going around that we likely wont know the full truth until hes traded or maybe even 5 years from now. People are getting mad at him when it might not even be his fault, it could be his agent or even JBB that is at fault.
