All of the dunking on Howard’s future is asinine.
"trade him for a top-4 NHL ready defenseman" lmao no team is dumb enough to do that for a winger so temper your expectations. Montreal is the exception and one of the biggest reasons was because Drouin was seen as one of the most offensively gifted prospect in years until McDavid in 2015. Howard barely ranked in the leagues top-50 prospects in his draft +2 year, Drouin was #1 across the board in 2014 (he ranked above the entire 2014 draft class).
I'd like to see him packaged for a roster upgrade but regardless I think the assets coming back for him are just going to be flipped in the near future barring an embarrassing playoff exit, I doubt we're holding onto a prospect long term or waiting 3+ years for an impact player as long as this team is looking competitive.
Haha when did Howard turn into kovalev.
? NeverHaha when did Howard turn into kovalev.
Man kovalev definitely lived up to his potential, he just only exercised it when he felt like it.? Never
I was pointing out that Drouin was such a promising prospect that his failure to live up to it reminded me of Zherdev. And both reminded me at a much smaller level of how Kovalev never fully lived up to hus potential at all. All 3 have in common ridiculous skill that Howard doesn't have
Well the whole grab was how Howard as a prospect doesn't even have a fraction of the skill as Drouin. Zherdev and Kovalev just felt worth mentioning becuase they were the other guys who gave me that same "Holy shit. WOW!!" feeling too. The theme of not living up to a 100% of the potential felt like it tied it togetherMan kovalev definitely lived up to his potential, he just only exercised it when he felt like it.
Drouin was talented, but more a product of mackinnon. Perhaps. Hard to say as he never can stay healthy and no one knows how bad his wrists are.
Agreed on zherdev though.
I'd say that's ideal. I'd prefer a RHD prospect but who cares if he's actually good at defendingIdeally, we could get a younger Ryan McDonagh for Isaac Howard.
I mean, ideally we'd get the next Hedman, but I don't think that's in the cards for this trade.I'd say that's ideal. I'd prefer a RHD prospect but who cares if he's actually good at defending
Nah. You only get a Hedman by drafting one. And having the sheer dumb luck of getting the lottery pick to begin with. I'd be content if whoever we got even turned into a Garrison or Coburn. I don't need dazzling. Just effectiveI mean, ideally we'd get the next Hedman, but I don't think that's in the cards for this trade.
I really don't think the problem is JBB here.I'm miffed at Howard and JBB alike. This guy is potenially going to be our only 1st round selection in 8 f***ing years and we can't even get him signed. It is ACTUALLY some of the stupidest shit I have ever seen

They also tried to convince everyone including themselves that he was a centerDrouin being French played no small role in that trade. And let's not forget MTL signed him to an absurd deal.
Drouin's issues were always attitude related. (Later, health relates.) It's good to see him finally start to realize some of his potential. But man, given what happened, Cooper and management were very much vindicated in that whole ordeal.

He went from one of the fastest players in the league to just kinda-fast-maybe.Man that was funny, "Tampa was using him wrong" they even told him to bulk up and everything messing up one of his biggest assets.
He went from one of the fastest players in the league to just kinda-fast-maybe.
His career was one of pitfalls.
It's good to see him finally cashing in on some of his potential. Still a few years left to make a mark.
