Prospect Info: 2022 31st Overall Pick | LW Isaac Howard

The Leafs signed Knies right before their playoff series with us and he was a big factor. If the coaches and front office think Howard is NHL ready I see no reason not to sign him for a playoff run. Would much rather run him out there than 11/7 with Perbix against good teams.
He'll get a couple games after State is done & we're clinched, thus need to rest roster players. We'll see if they're willing to put him in playoff games.

Knies had the body type & playing style to easily adjust to playoff hockey, plus the Leafs had bent over backwards the previous year to try to get him signed, they were willing to play him right away.

If the Spartans beat Ohio State tomorrow, I have to imagine any Gator fans are going to be that much more tickled
No one really cares about Ohio State Hockey, and few that are outside of the normal 10ish states follow NCAA Hockey, probably won't register.

Interested to see if State can go on a run to the Final and win their first National Championship since 2007, or if Augustine melts down again like he did last year. Then Howard should get his ELC signed & get a few games for us.

I really hope Howard is keeping up with his conditioning in all this spare time. Imagine being 3 weeks into March tomorrow and having played twice in a month. I know they're up against basketball but holy f***

Just wondering out loud. Does Howard still have NCAA eligibility?

Maybe he likes the college scene. If the Lightning don’t ante up, maybe his NIL deal is a better option for him. Hope he signs with the Bolts, but what if he and his agent sense he won’t get an opportunity to play top 6 minutes. When drafted Howard showed a bit of a ego.

Caleb Williams wins the Heisman at USC, was draft eligible but returned to school. Read where he had one deal with United Airlines for 1 million dollars. Another deal with Beats for rumored more money.

That’s the leverage he has to ensure he gets some NHL play this year.

THAT, plus the opportunity to play with future HOF’s like, 86 and 77, plus 38 and 21? BUT, If all he’s interested in is the $$, then hasta lavista baby.
Yeah, he would have great trade value as well. I don't see how he's earned or deserves to supplant anyone in the lineup that has played well and with the team in the middle of a division title chase. If MSU goes to the frozen four and all that, Tampa will have 3 or maybe 4 regular season games left. If the division is still on the line and the team us still working well with who they have, I'm not seeing them trying to force Howard in just because he wants to get in a game or two this season. If the division is over and Tampa is set in the 2v3 matchip and resting guys, sure.

Many NCAA hockey teams play regularly for half empty arenas. Hockey is also an equivalent sport right now. Not everyone gets a full athletic scholarship (although that's changing for next season.)

There is some money going around, but it's not million dollar quarterback deals.

I doubt hockey NIL deals are anywhere close to an NHL salary, especially with how some benefits are age/service gated.

You do what is needed to get the kid signed. Even if he is on the roster a couple games Coop doesn’t have to play him if we are in the thick of a division race.
