It does have to be frustrating as an Oilers fan to be “just” evenly matched with a team who won two Cups a decade ago, tanked, rebuilt, and now is back up to a level as competitive by committee as they are with two superstars all since the last time they were at all a true threat to win a Cup.

Exactly. There is a very large drop-off in Edmonton's lineup whereas LA is much more balanced and plays better as a whole. LA is missing many of their key players and can stand toe to toe with the Oilers.
