Which new young players are expected next year with the Rocket?

Mesar, Beck, Mailloux, Roy, etc. Will they all be eligible to play in Laval?

They are all eligible except Beck who is still too young.

Mesar will most likely spend another year as a junior. He's eligible since he's not drafted out of the CHL, but with the ordinary season he just had, I feel they may want to be patient with him.

Mailloux, Roy, Farrel, Kidney should all start in the AHL unless one of them really surprise during camp.

Thanks. That will be fun to watch.

Very fun. In fact I can't really remember the last time the habs had so many quality forward prospects all turning pro more or less at the same time.
Exactly why I was asking the question. I have not been following prospects like I used to but it seems it had not happened since the time of Plekanec, Higgins, Perezhogin, Kostitsyn, Komisarek, etc. It will be refreshing to have a competitive AHL team.

Today we will find out who Laval will face in the Play-In.

Rochester is facing Cleveland @ 3PM. If Rochester wins, Laval will play Utica. If Rochester loses, even in OT, Laval will face Rochester.
Levi didn't get sent down, did he?

Laval will face Utica as Rochester beat Cleveland. Game 1 is on Wednesday in Laval.

It's a Best-of-3. Game 1 in Laval. Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) in Utica. Winner moves on to face Marlies.

his defensive play has been impressive, sadly it's already best on the team as Laval's blueline is just so poor defensively. Struble looks so strong out there, just plays a power game, if he can ever figure out the offense look out.
Wow! No wonder our Dmen are bad, we only draft guys who get points, brilliant.

Some bad news, JF Houle confirmed on French radio this morning that Stephens will not be available for the series against Utica.

He was playing his best hockey of the entire season recently. Taking a lot of the important faceoffs too, especially on the PK. This definitely doesn't help, they have the depth though, they'll find ways to manage. Is Gignac expected to be back in time ? He can slide into that role pretty well.

Gignac is injured also. He's week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

They have Mysak they can put back into the line-up. They have Simoneau who can also play center.

With 3R's season also over (they didn't make the playoffs), they can call some of those guys up to serve as Black Aces. And they have a center in Beauregard, who has played 9 games with Laval this year. They also have Stapley, who was 3R's top scorer this year.

Neither have the experience of a Stephens or Gignac. As you say, Laval does have the depth. But it won't be easy replacing those two vets. But they have options.

He just needs to learn how to get the puck through... and stop getting his damn shot blocked..!

Stephens loss will just be too big to overcome in my opinion. Hopefully we are stronger at C next year.

I was wondering if Gignac would be back in time. Has he been practicing ?

He hasn't. Laval gave an injury update last Wednesday saying he's week-to-week. So it's pretty recent.

Laval is practicing today at 4PM. So we'll see if he at least skates or participates with a non-contact jersey. Laval was supposed to practice at 10 this morning, but there was an issue with the cooling system at Place Bell so the ice was not ready.

I don't see Gignac or Martel back next year. They need room for forwards coming in. They should bring Stephens, Bourque, Richard (definitely) back though.
