I watched the game from beginning to end. Flaws and all, he was BU's best player - bar none.

I am not a fan of smallish D's but this kid is a special talent. He's not far from a Quinn Hughes IMO - who still has major defensive flaws in his 5th year in the NHL. Same size - same upside. Anyone who wants to focus on Hutson's negs should give their heads a shake.

BU accomplished 0 with him off the ice.

Actually, he was on the scoresheet four times. Once with his secondary assist (where he really did nothing on the play) and three times when Northeastern scored. That sounds like a winning formula to you?

Continue to ignore his whole game. That will help with your distortion of this kid's future. His defense will keep him from becoming a regular NHLer.

you didn’t watch the game please have an ounce of respect for people who did it’s not hard

This may surprise you but I did watch the game.

Is this the best bulls**t you can stoop to? Accuse me of commenting on a game I didn't watch. Jeeze, the herd mentality on the internet is appalling. Anyone that doesn't agree with the consensus is lying.

BU accomplished 0 with him off the ice.
Northeastern also accomplished nothing with him off the ice.

Sure you did.

If you had watched him play you'd probably have an evaluation that doesn't amount to "I looked at the stats after the game and came to my conclusion," It is what it is though. If you don't love his game that's fine a lot of people disliked Caufield in college because he didn't play the right way, was a puck hog etc...

They didn't just try. They succeed. That seems to have escaped your attention.
Not really. He created tons of chances in that game anyway, which could have ended up in the net. Like he always does.

So i guess when he’s all over the ice creating plays but don’t get points it means he did nothing and got ‘’shut down’’ but when he did get a point because he was part of the only goal for his team then it’s ‘’ok but he did nothing’’

Must feel powerful trying to dislike a kid everyone likes just to be different, lol.

Imagine seeing a late 2nd round pick break records left and right and outproduce almost everyone he shouldn't be outproducing - as a defenseman - in a league known to be tough for 18 year-olds freshmen, and...

...declare him as a future bust.

How refreshing! :sarcasm:
But… don’t you understand? Can’t enjoy a player everyone likes, he has to be the only one who doesn’t just to be different 🙄

Kapanen quietly developing pretty nicely. Upside doesn't seem tremendous, but he looks like he can become a quality bottom 6 center for us.

Exactly. This is very encouraging to see what he's doing this year. More than just his good production is the fact he's locked down a full time spot in Liiga. Last year. he split his year between 3 leagues (Liiga, Mestis & Junior). So he didn't have a chance to get settled in any one league.

As you say, his upside isn't tremendous. But what we're seeing though is a prospect who has continued to progress. Whether he amounts to anything is unknown. But what you want the most from your prospects is progression. And we're getting that from Kapanen.

We also should keep in mind that he's still only 19.

He's third in scoring among U20 players in Liiga. He has 7 pts in his 12 GP since returning from the WJC.
