im surprised to see Casey & Mintyukov so high on the 2 lists so far today ... not because they dont deserve it necessarily but more that these 2 have been constantly under the radar and not really glowing in the NHL currently.

Mintyukov is having a particularly difficult season between some poor execution and even worse coaching/deployment.

Casey not in NHL and no clear path anytime soon.

What has brought them to that level, just a poor draft?

Casey was a top Calder favorite during the games he played in the NHL and he's doing really well in the AHL.

I don’t think he was ever a Calder fave, can you cite some sources on that?

He did have a a good start but he wasn’t even expected to be on the team.

Credit for his success so far, no question on that.

Way too early, and serves no apparent purpose other than Habs fans looking for validation that they came away the big winners.
Not a Habs fan but what’s wrong with that ?

This is a message board dedicated to prospects, why wouldn’t a fan base be excited when they selected arguably 2 of the best available?

Seems discussion worthy no matter how it is framed.

If u knew anything about that u wouldn’t be framing it as an early Calder fave. Everyone knew he would be sent down.

Anyhow. Good start! Glad he is outpacing his draft position but curious how he got this high up these 2 lists.

Seems premature despite how exciting he is a prospect.

Well we should have waited 3 more years since we will probably be even bigger winners... 😬Owen Beck and Adam Engstrom are probably the 2 best players on our AHL team, both 2022 draftee.

being sent down doesn't mean that he wasn't a favorite at the time.

Nice of you to say those things about him though.
