Liked by Shane Wright. Oof. Dude seems salty. If it's how he deals with adversity, maybe we did good taking Chadkovsky with his confidence. Wright would've probably struggled under the pressure in Montreal.

I think Yotes went with the flashy american kid for the fans,Wright is more on the boring Suzuki side but thats just my opinion
Kind of feel the same way. They desperately need to put butts in seats asap. A guy who puts up flashy goals will probably bring them more immediate attention than someone with strong two way play. No one's gonna be like "wow did you see the way that guy back checks!!"

I like slaf potential while only watching highlights.

That being said, what are is nhl comparable?

Rantanan?
Faster Wilson?
Puljurjavi?
… A Josh Anderson ?

Rantanen at best
Puljujärvi on the lower-end
Armia if megabust

Good puck protector with DECENT skating, good hands, and a good shot

To me, he’s in the Filip Forsberg/Andrei Svechnikov type of player! Big, skill, not overly physical but won’t be afraid to use his body unlike Armia, can play any kind of brand of hockey (skill game, possession game, physical game, etc)

Most emotion he showed all year!

So happy we didn’t pick him.
I'm not that happy because I think he's a special talent with both the highest floor and ceiling, but this attitude and his lack of intensity gives me huge Drouin vibes. Slafkovsky is a gamer who leaves it all on the ice and seems to thrive in the spotlight like at the Olympics. The way he answered the question about the few boos he got was perfect.

I wonder if the guys at the table saw it.

I think it would’ve been hard for them to keep a straight face had they seen it. I mean, how do you not chuckle at that?

if that indeed is his account, then yes.. very bad look. Shows immaturity but more importantly low IQ. those type of things always come back to haunt you, like bad mouthing your former boss etc... I remember when I resigned from a fairly high position, and the CEO had an "exit" interview with me. Ofcourse he was asking me about so and so.. I was like no not at all, I am just going in a different direction..

Reality is absolutely the Boss was a very weak, low iq, fickle man --- but damned if I call him out - not my business.

Shane will do well in Seattle - and good luck to him. I wanted so badly to draft him, but something must have happened in those interviews whereby he was passed by 3 teams (especially AZ).

On one hand, Wright seems dead set to prove the haters wrong. Gotta love that for him. Hope he succeeds (why would I want him to fail??).

On the other hand he seems a bit like he's not fully developed socially. I feel he must've tanked his interviews with teams.

Not even Michael Jordan would've done such an obvious stare-down. He seems like he's a bit off. Maybe he's a terrific player but the jocks and alphamale types don't understand him? Or maybe he's just a weird little kid. Let's see.

Exceptional status might create some sense of entitlement. It really goes against the grain of the person everyone thought he was. I get being disappointed, but to take major offence from it is silly.

Imagine being so bitter to booo Slaf at the Bell center or to freak out on your couch at home. Then to probably follow it up with bashing him and wishing him to bust, rooting against your own players.

Sad.
