The elimination round begins on Saturday, January 2. Top 4 teams in each pool advance in a crossover format (1A vs 4B, 1B vs 4A, 2A vs 3B, 2B vs 3A). the 5th place temas in each pool play each other in a best of 3 series where the loser is relegated to the Division 1 tournament for next year (which might prove tricky since they would normally be replaced with the D1 champion except that there was no D1 tournament this year because COVID.

Yeah, but we're talking about a guy from Finland. So once you do the metric conversion he's actually a monstrous 185cm and 81,646 grams.

The Russian jerseys are too red. It's almost hard to read the numbers on the back because everyone is just a big, oppressive red blob. It wouldn't have killed them to put a bit of white/blue in there to break it up.

Askarov's a lefty? You never see lefty goalies anymore and that's the second one today (I think the Slovak goalie was lefty/right-hand-catch)

The WJCs are Askarov's kryptonite. He was junk last year and that was a terrible, terrible goal just now.

Russia is a lot of fun to watch. This certainly isn't Valeri Bragin's stiff, systemic, grindy Russia WJC squads.
