They had a good pen until everyone got hurt to start the year. It was stupid crazy random that so many relief arms were down at the start of the year.

Part of it being addressed later in this year was getting guys with control beyond this season. So going into next year they'll be able to at least pencil in:

Romano
Cimber
Richards
Mayza

for sure. Plus will still have control on Merryweather, Borucki, Castro, Saucedo to compete for other spots. With the first four basically as most of the back half of your pen you can bring in some vet non-closer FAs (ie guys that won't cost you an arm and a leg) to battle with the others and it should put them in a good spot. if Merryweather can come back to looking like the Merryweather that started the year you've now got

Cimber
Richards
Mayza

so you only really need to fill 3 spots in the pen with guys that are medium-leverage or worse or are particular specialists. and then just add as much depth as you can to act as redundancies.
 
The stage has been too big for Teoscor and Vladdy, but not Bo. We’re learning a lot about who produces when the pressure is on.

Makes me wish Jeter was still at short for the Yankees . he would've missed that ball by 6 feet. Or felt the need to get up and make a jump throw for it to arrive too late.
