I think they pulled Zeuch because they didn't want him facing the top of the order again and they would prefer having Thornton start with a clean inning rather than coming in with runners on base.

Why not start with zeuch and if he lets a runner on go to a power arm here like Merryweather.

I hate how teams are stuck on using best arms for late in the game. I feel like using Romano or Merryweather in these middle innings could give your offense the chance to blow things open to the point where it doest matter who pitches the ninth. Sometimes the highest leverage situations are in the middle innings.
I just hate how managers are predictable in how they use relievers.
