That's a different case. Belarussia vs Belarus is a sensitive matter for many people there as they consider "Belarussia" or "Belorussia" disrespectful.
I'm surprised that a person who's been following Belarusian player threads didn't know the correct name of the country, unless it was done intentionally.

Exactly. "Belorussia" or "Belarussia" is literally "White Russia", and it sort of implies that Belarusians are in fact Russians. Which they aren't. "Belarus" is the proper name.

The "Swiss Confederation" analogy is incorrect. I am not saying you need to say "Republic of Belarus".

Likewise, Republic of Finland would be the official name.

I guess the erroneous "Belarussia" in the OP was just because Belarus in Finnish literally translates to White Russia and that can trick you if you're not careful with the proper form. We have a few other odd country names in the lingo, historic baggage.

To be fair, in Finnish its Valko-Venäjä (White-Russia, Belarussia)
so its easy to forget at times, that it was changed from Belarussia to Belarus.

Obviously i wasn't trying to be offensive, but i do apologize my mistake.

I've never heard anyone bothered with running up scores in euro hockey, I hadn't even heard about it as a problem until I started following/talking with the NA hockey community.

Well, I meant that in international hockey it seems to be a thing only when the European teams engage in it... It's always fine for Canada.

You must have forgotten the WJ this year. People got mad Canada absolutely butchered Germany.

It counts when it comes down to the top teams in each division. If there is a tie, it will be broken by who got more goals. It's got nothing to do with classy.

Not every player is gonna get a Participation medal for coming out....:rolleyes:
 
Rough start for Finland.. they are better than us, I have no doubt but I don't think they've crossed the blueline and both goals were not highlight reel or anything...

Shots are 10-0 Czechs... This is crazy. I don't know how it's happening to be honest.

Played a bunch of games against Slovakia... exhibition game agianst Swiss in Texas.. won that 3-1 in a meh performance.
