Even if the TEs are good I still think we might see a lot of maddening performances from the offense. I think they need to be a dominating run team. Top 5 in the NFL to make up for mediocre WRs.

Banking on Hunter Henry being healthy probably isn't a good bet.

They have all the parts to be a top 5 running team.

Good OLine, mobile QB, two good RBs with different styles in Harris and White, an unknown in Stevenson who by all accounts looks the part of a 3 down back, and a Rex Burkhead change of pace type in JJ Taylor.

Henry's health is obviously a huge question mark, but if he and Smith can stay on the field, they'll be fine.

Have a feeling we see my dream of a lot of 1WR, 2TE, 2RB sets, especially with Newton.

As good as Jacoby Myers is, the Patriots will need another wide receiver a little better than him if they’re going to be more than a one-and-done team in the playoffs. It HAS to be addressed. Shades of 2006. Remember those guys? And this version of the ‘stone-hands gang’ won’t have the GOAT throwing to them.

Wide receiver was addressed. It’s not going to be addressed again. Meyers/Agholor/Bourne is fine when you have 2 #1 TE and a great run game. That’s 2 #2’s and a #3

Sure, WR was addressed. That doesn't mean it was addressed wisely. I don't think it was but am willing to see what it looks like. The following thread is why Sony was not needed:

They've also been talking on the Sports Hub about how the Patriots still might be looking for WR help. I forget who they said was reporting it but I think it was Chris Gasper.

JJ Taylor #3 in yards with 7.9 YPC lol

They have the potential to be quite dynamic on the ground this season

I could see them getting a #4 receiver they trust more than Harry or Gunner but I don’t see them getting somebody better than Bourne for instance. Basically I don’t think they do anything that moves the needle there. If I’m wrong then great

If they're looking at adding a WR, the one type they're missing is the speedy, quick, agile guy. They've got the deep threat in Agholor, and possession guys in Meyers/Bourne.

Was typing up my 53 man roster, but Zack Cox of NESN has my exact roster

Patriots 53-Man Roster Projection: Who Makes New England's Final Cut?

Could definitely see them picking someone up from cuts. I know they don't need LBs, but John Simon was released by TEN today, and frankly I'd take him over keeping someone like perennially injured Brandon King on the roster, or if they flip Winovich for picks.

Cutting Jennings ugh.

I know just a projection but some the cuts I dont like. But ill believe in Bill.

Bolden being a cut projection is surprise

Start Cam, if/when the Pats get blown out by Brady and the Bucs in week 4 switch to Mac for the rest of the season.

Really I'd be happiest if Cam could be for Mac what Alex Smith was for Mahomes, but I'll take dodging the Brady game. Mahomes (and Brady too for that matter) benefited from a soft entry into the NFL rather than being thrown to the wolves.

I would imagine Durant means bad news for Herron and not Cajuste. Herron had a tough week of practice against the Giants playing both guard and tackle. Durant’s versatility with both positions I would think spells trouble for Herron.

Yeah I don’t think Herron is in trouble, I think it’s what Saxon Eric thinks. Herron is already an average swing tackle despite his tough week of practice so maybe they move him but I don’t think he’s going to be cut outright

Are people really still pretending the QB job isn't and hasn't been Newton's all along?

Last year when everyone (including us) passed on Newton and then we signed him in August....was head scratching to say the least.
Then to watch him not read the blitz, unsure of what to do in the pocket, throw with such a weak arm, inaccurate for like what...9 TDs and how many INTs...?

What's changed in a year aside from paying this goof 17 million rather than the 1 million he wasn't even worth last year?
