Interesting signing, he was a player I was once hopeful for, but he never quite took another step.

I know they should have a comprehensive book on him from Riley’s connections with former staffer Jon Christiano. They were very interested in him his draft year.

After his first few years in Detroit he looked like he was on his way to being a solid bottom 6 piece, then he just fell off a cliff. He had a bit of a bounce back in Pittsburgh for a year, but he's been invisible on the ice the past couple years. Haven't followed him closely for a while, so not sure if there were injuries or other issues, but his career has been odd.

Solid addition. Good at the dot and very good on the PK. Would be a very good addition to the taxi squad and could effectively slot in at 4C when needed. Heck, might even earn a spot outright if Lazar disappoints.

Sheahan 6'3" 214lb
Fogarty 6'3" 208lb
Dea 5'11" 175lb

You don't have to be a rocket surgeon to know which way the wind blows
I’d buy that more if Eakin and Rieder weren’t both about Dea’s size

It may be more about his one way deal. They were probably hoping to unload it. The chances were slim but worth a shot in their mind. Fogarty has a two way deal and Sheahan just a PTO at the moment.

Plot twist

Adams/Krueger are certainly not JS Dea fan club members.

Yes, very sour on him, if they don't even want him at camp. Not even an option to show them that he could be a depth player.

I don't know if that's the case as much as needing camp space for PTOs and then Cozens and Quinn
Kevyn Adams says the top priority for Sabres taxi squad is having guys who can step in and help win games. Secondary priority for taxi is player development.

He's not a guy who can step in and help win games and his development has peaked as a minor league player. Botterill thought he was stealing him away from the Pens by giving him a one-way contract. I wonder how often Botterill's name comes up when Adams is trying to assemble his roster.
