2021 QMJHL Draft

Don't know about a list but I'd have the following as top 2 round level prospects from Quebec:

- Etienne Morin
- Ethan Gauthier
- Isaac Fecteau
- Loic Goyette
- Matis Ouellet
- Olivier Beaulieu
- Alex Mercier
- Christopher Talbot
- Evan Courtois
- Nathan Grenier
- Eli Baillargeon
- Mathieu Cataford

with guys like Mathieu Wener, Xavier Daigle, Emile Duquet, Emile Perron, Marc-Olivier Beaudry, Maxence Albert, Pierre-Marc Minville, Nathan Baril, Justin Boisselle, Vincent Gauthier, Maxime Coursol, Nathan Ethier, Elliot Simard, Cristiano Spadafora in the mix for top 2 round selections.
Great list wondering if there will be many players playing in Ontario and/or USA I think there could be 5 players from there on top three rounds

There is already Fecteau, Morin, Damphousse, Wener, Blais, Reynolds who have left their original Bantam teams but there will likely be a couple more.

Both oha and ciha did have 2 players who are possible top round pick from ciha Morin and reynolds but from oha Allen and Mcintosh, I’m seeing more of a trend of players going away to prep schools even if USA isn’t in mind they see it as an edge to early devolopment whereas for the most part there on the ice and in the gym everyday instead of 3-4 times a week, those extra days each week can really make the difference in good now and outstanding in a year or two

Where are the goalies on your list?

We’ve all been saying you need a certain amount of points and need to meet all these objectives to be a good qmjhl player... raphael Lavoie had 16 points in 25 games in bantam and had 26 points in 42 games first year midget (draft year) but now he’s doing amazing in the q and is a top point getter, for the most part points will help a lot and will do more than you think but if your a kid who’s almost at a point a game and have a legendary work ethic the skys thé limit and it could be your name everyone’s talking about next year and in the years to come, so just putting a message out there to help the ones who need that extra push going into this big year.

I agree with what you're saying but in the case of Lavoie remember that he's now 6'4". I'll bet the increase in his offensive numbers coincides with a major growth spurt.

Squires still gets picked ahead of Sentner next June, have a look at the first 2 rounds of the OHL draft and Q draft from this season....creativity, speed, IQ , vision all trump muscle... Small crafty players turn pucks over as much as those who crash and bang, they win more battles with their mind then there physical play. I watched several games in the GTHL over the past 2 seasons....players rarely are out of position trying to make the big hit...the hockey is fast, skilled and the PP is deadly.
Analogy so true, however the step from bantam to Major Midget is just that a major one" some players are able to adapt to the speed & physical style and many have problems adjusting to the limited time & space, we a will have a much better understanding of who can step-up when the season gets underway and they line up with their respective teams!

I read that M Pelletier is going to the PEI Mount. He stated it on his Twitter feed.

Jack Flanagan, IMO top 3 05 goalies ,played with KV last season and Cam Henderson I believe will also be attending Mount, I heard this about a month ago so things could of changed since then.

Yes, the Mount was and is recruiting hard, Pelletier, Henderson, Travis, Flannagan , I have heard some other solid names as well. Positioning themselves to have a great year. Personally, i don't see the Mount playing much hockey this season, the U.S. although they are opening up, I would not be sending my kid over the boarder anytime soon. We discussed the Atlantic loop as a possibility, the Mount is pulling players from local major midget teams, it won't happen. How can the Charlettown Knights open up their arms to a school down the street who competes for the same players every year, plus have the luxury of recruiting all over NA to fill their roster. Pelletier is Fredericton property for Major Midget, do you think they will vote them in...not a chance. I do feel bad for the kids...I would be trying to get my money back and look to Midget as a better option for this season.... get as much exposure as you can for the Q and if the US is your goal, have your agent work that angle for you as well. One year in Major Midget dosen't change your eligibilty, it's good hockey and more importantly it may just be the safest choice.

Meltdown just got re open end of July 6-8 teams and no open ice contact. They made it only for 05s. Going to nice to watch all the kids at it but without contact so making show more skill and taking some pressure off the kids. Finally some hockey if u anywhere near it hop over and check it out going to be great hockey

The Montreal Meltdown? I don't see any 05 division listed. My kid was invited to play 06 but I heard rumors that the tournament wasn't a sure thing so I'm holding off for now.

Hockey Nova Scotia seems to be the first province to make their fall plans public.... Hockey Nova Scotia

The only real meat you can sink your teeth into with this rebound plan is the Oct 1st date . Regardless of what happens, no try-outs until then. The rest is just "BLUE SKY" , but i give them credit for putting something on paper. As long as we have "skill development" happening , we are making progress...maybe more progress actually, as all players could use more of it!!!

It wasn't the Meltdown but 6 teams played a quickly arranged D1 tournament in Trois Rivieres this weekend as a sort of substitute. It was pretty good considering that it was thrown together at the last minute.
Looks like the Meltdown D2 weekend is back on in Pierrefonds.

It was for 2022 QMJHL draft eligibles however. There was a tournament with the 05s (2021 Q draft) at St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu on Thursday and Friday.

Almost time to start up again. Prep Schools I think will have a particularly strong year with top talent electing to go that route. They provide guaranteed development in a make or break year with so many external impacts unlike any other year. I will invest some time watching these schools as there are draft picks in most. The Mount will be outstanding with Burbidge, Pelletier, Travis, squires maybe, Flanagan, Henderson and a few others. They will get a lot of attention this year from teams. Even schools like KES will see an uptick in talent I think. RNS, I'm not sure who's going yet. Quebec's prep schools will also be outstanding this year. Will be great hockey with great talent.

I'm less excited about major midget this year - but still optimistic. I think you will see a few more of the 2nd and 3rd year major midget kids choosing other alternatives in general. ie. High School - it's much more economical - and it can still be great hockey with top end major midget caliber players. I think there will be good room for first years on the major midget teams in general which will be good. I'm also hopeful that the minor midget teams will stick to their mandate of developing first year players not quite ready for major because I feel there is a lot of potential there with late bloomers. I don't know why they decided to change the rules to have 5 second year players. Instead it should be 90% first year and bad birthday players to meet the original intention of the league.

With the 4 month layoff, I think we will see huge surprises for sure - I can't wait!!

Allowing 5 second years is foolish. The whole idea of minor midget / midget releve is to develop players. It's hard enough for the first year kids who get cut from minor to find a place on a AA team since they're competing against 17 year olds. So you get kids who may have played AAA for up to 4 years getting bounced down to BB.

Agree the Mount U16 team has loaded up with some strong 05's from the Atlantic Region, however many of those kids would have opted the Prep school route somewhere regardless. This interesting thing will be where they end up playing? Rumor is the 3-4 Maritime prep schools have been lobbying to join the Major Midget Leagues in light of the pandemic but haven't heard if that will fly. That was discussed earlier on in this thread and there are challenges and barriers associated with it. Would a team like the Mount U16 join Midget Minor in NS or play in PEI Major Midget league?

High school hockey still seems to be up in the air, this may cause an influx of older players to compete for spots in Major and push out some 05 prospects making Minor Midget even more attractive, deeper and more skilled. Modified extended training camps will give coaches a longer look at players at all levels. The next 60 days will be interesting and exciting to see how it unfolds. I agree there will be a lot of surprises on rosters this season!
