Just goes to show that preseason means next to nothing on a team to team level. You've got clubs that ended up winning the President's trophy, finishing dead last, and everywhere in between. It's still interesting to keep track of, though. I'd wonder more about how these preseason standings translated into a teams' record in the first couple weeks of the regular season. Would be interesting to see if teams continued playing hot or cold into the early parts of the season or if there was really no correlation at all.

Another vote for "next to nothing".

Add in too that pre-season scheduling is all over the place. There's zero consistency between teams. It's much like last regular season, only worse...without the normalizing effect of everyone playing an equal amount of games.

Haha, trust me, I am fully aware of how non-indicative this is of anything
It's just meant as a fun little thread I run every year to celebrate hockey coming back, and it's interesting to see how teams are stacking up.

Florida's early play with the SSGs really paid off. They now hold the tiebreaker against any challengers for now.

Risky though since you could end up in Nashville's shoes and be pretty much out of the running.

That's the thing tho, it doesn't show how teams are stacking up.

For example, look at Seattle last night. Near full NHL lineup. Look at Dallas tonight, out of 12 forwards and 6 defense, there is 1 player that will start on opening night.

Home teams always play more NHL guys, road teams are AHLers or prospects. So it's hard to say pre-season shows anything.

Not for the regular season, just in general, at this moment.
Just curious to see what the results are, that's all!

In 2017 Colorado went 6-0 in preseason and then proceeded to post a historically bad 48 point season. Needless to say preseason counts for nothing.

Just preseason games, do not mean too much. Teams pick up rosters and fresh up for the regular season game. That is all.
