My problem with ignore function is that knowing that someone out there is so tragically and consistently wrong, I have a visceral need to try to help them see the light.

Hey guys? Let's maybe just be excited for everyone, and hope that everyone puts up a career year. No one will remember if you were dumpstering a guy before the season and turned out to be right. So let's cut the negativity and get excited for a team that, on paper, actually looks pretty good if things go right.
NO GOD NO
Ask his opinion, then do the opposite of it.Who in their right mind would even want Chiarelli in the organization, let alone expanding his role?
This is his 3rd year in the organization lol why is this a shocker?
No, it’s the pearl-clutching that’s stupid. In what way has he hurt the Blues the last 2 years?Because it's so stupid?

Blues 100% vaccinated. Given that the NHL anticipates only 10-15 players not being vaccinated, this isn't that surprising. Good for them.
Ignored so far in this conversation is Chiarelli's own network of hockey contacts. I'm sure as a veteran GM in the league, he has quite a wide assortment of assets and friendships. That kind of savvy can help contribute to the whole. I saw the same kind of reactions when he was hired, but its just silly. He's not calling the shots, and he hasn't done anything that can be pointed to as a negative.Your question is something we obviously have no knowledge about for or against but I don't think it's unreasonable to criticize an expanded role for a guy who completely botched his last franchise.
Looks like he is replacing Taylor who is taking on a reduced role. Having another experienced guy in front office helps Army I’m sure. I wouldn’t want chiarelli to replace him, but who else does Army have to turn to for perspective who understands what he is going through?Ignored so far in this conversation is Chiarelli's own network of hockey contacts. Yeah we don’t need Hitchcock at all. But it’s probably Armstrong just helping out his friend, who apparently cannot survive without being around hockey. My thing regarding Chiarelli and Hitch is that, do we really need the role that Hitch is coming in as? We've got some pretty seasoned coaching in Berube, Montgomery, Van Ryn who was considered for some openings, Ott, and Sean Farrell and David Alexander have been around the block a few times. Maybe Hitch's role is something related to developing the coaches in Springfield?
Chiarelli I'm kind of neutral on because I think he's had his share of questionable or downright stupid GM moves, but what GM hasn't?
I would pay to see Hitch behind bench and get fire up our players again.Chiarelli isn't inherently bad just because he was bad as a GM in recent years. He still had some really good moves in Boston and earlier in his career, so I'm sure he brings value into our group. Doug is still #1 and as long as Doug is #1, we are in good hands.
Hitch as a coaching advisor is a good role for us too. Never hurts to have an extra voice like that. Maybe he'll be there to help players out like Larry Robinson did with Parayko, maybe he'll be there to help develop our young assistants even more.
