I wasn't high on Pederson but how do the Eagles fire a coach who made the playoffs the last 3 years before this? Last time the Eagles had 4 wins they let Andy Reid go. I'm not suggesting any other similarities.

I think it was about personalities not resumes. Wentz/Pederson couldn’t coexist anymore. Pederson was fighting with the front office.

Disagree. Pederson was high up on my list. He isn't a retread in the traditional sense. His only bad record was this past season going 4-11-1, and a lot of that was due to the front office being completely incompetent and also forcing Carson Wentz down his throat. If you read up on what exactly happened, Pederson was hardly to blame for that fiasco. I might have even preferred him over most other candidates because he has head coaching experience already and did well 4 out of his 5 seasons coaching the Eagles.

That said, definitely pumped and excited about Saleh and can't wait for the draft to get here indeed!

Well my friend, we'll just need to agree to disagree on Pederson. I personally would have thought it to be "safe hire" and very uninspiring whereas a hiring of a Daboll, Brady, Smith or Saleh would have got me and most Jet fans pumped. Well no Pederson and thank the lord Saleh. With Douglass and now Saleh and likely Mike Lafleur, dare I say I am actually quite hopeful about the future.

Now we need to get Sam fixed if that's even possible but we gotta try seeing I'd be beyond shocked if we went for one of those QB's at #2. We do that, we are in business baby!

Look, at the end of the day, it was obvious that the Jets were going to hire Saleh if he had a good interview. You do not let your first choice out the door if he impresses you.

Did Saleh also satisfy the Rooney rule? He's now the first Muslim head coach in the NFL. Very cool. Wish him success.

I think the Zoom interviews counted for Rooney Rule, they spoke with Lewis, EB and Aaron Glenn.

Maybe a safe hire, but in a good way. Coaches like Pederson don't become available every day. But doesn't seem he was going to be available this season, since it looks like he's taking at least a year off to reflect and relax.

I also think Daboll and Brady weren't the "CEO" type that the Jets were looking for. They would have been more so the hot coordinator type hires, unlike Saleh and Smith.

Regarding the QB situation, don't be surprised if the Jets look to draft Zach Wilson. He'd be a perfect fit for the incoming offense.

Dan Campbell getting the Lions job, he seems to get interviewed a lot every year, but still feels like a surprise.

I don't agree about Pederson at all but that's OK...we'll just differ on this. What I find interesting is that I'm reading some peeps in the media panning the Saleh hire.

I mean it's ridiculous as some love to bash the Jets even when we do things right. What's ironic is this might be the first time in forever or at least since probably when Parcells came here almost 25 years ago, that most of Jet Nation is not bitching and moaning about a coach we hired.

From recollection, after Belichek flipped off the Jets and Al Groh came on board, I was pretty tepid about it nothing earth shattering. When Herm came on board I had a "wait and see" attitude and Herm to be honest grew on me and probably when I think about it, is one of the better Jet coaching hires ever as he did a pretty good job.

Mangini from the get go I was not thrilled about as he was a Patriot and I didn't want any Patriots in charge here. He was OK his first year but his personality was like watching paint dry. It was excruciating watching him on the sidelines with his sour #### face...ugh. He needed too go.

Rex I do recall being a little enthusiastic about...not alot but a little seeing I was happy we finally had a guy who would have a personality again came from the Raven system which was solid and his Daddy was Buddy and so I was kind of on board when Rex came to town.

I gotta admit, those first two years of Rex was just about as much fun as I've had as a Jet fan since those solid Jet teams of the 80's. But eventually Rex had to go as the whole BS Jet hierarchy way of doing things just was a disaster waiting to happen and it sure did implode with Idzik and than Mac.

Was not happy with the Bowles signing as I recall I wanted Arians I believe at the time. And obviously Gase was a disasterous hire from the get go and we all knew it from the get go.

So now here we are and we have Saleh. So yeah this is first time since Parcells I'm fully on board with a Jet hire which says alot and how incompetent we've been over the past two decades and change...lol

So now with the Saleh hire, my percentages of what we will do at the draft have shifted.
I'm now 55% we trade down and get a haul which is up from 35 a week ago.

Darnold as mentioned earlier, is likely staying and Mike Lafleur will hopefully know how to fix him which means we need alot of shit to fortify the rest of the team and so a trade down to get some extra picks is kind of enticing to be honest.

I'm 40% we'll take Sewell and either he or Becton goes to RT and we have the foundation for one of the best lines in the league within the next year or so after Douglas finishes adding too it.

Remaining 5% is if the Jets shockingly take a WR like Smith or one of the two QB's. I really don't think we are going this route as both QB's are simply not that much better than Darnold is and #2 is too soon to take one of those stud WR's.

Gun to my head. Last week I would have said Sewell. This week with Saleh on board, I'm going with we will trade down to maybe 4 with the Falcons maybe 5 with the Bengals who might be scared that the Dolphins might take Sewell. I really wouldn't want to much further down than that.

But if the Eagles at 6 or Detroit at 7 who also might want Sewell or one of the QB's and even Carolina who might like one of the QB's wants too give us a huge haul, we might need to consider it.

So yeah I'd place a decent amount of money on us trading down to someone in the top 5 and possibly even as far down as 8 but that's as far as I'd go.

Saleh was one of the top guys that I wanted and the fact he is bringing the Shanahan offense here is a big deal. You want to talk about being able to run the ball effectively, this offense is just that. LaFleur brought it to Green Bay and look at what they are doing with Aaron Jones and those backs. Of course, they have Aaron Rodgers, but this offense has worked for the 49ers.

I'm also happy they are looking to keep Darnold. Let these coaches work with him. There was talk just two years ago that Rodgers looked done and now he's going to win MVP. That is the offense they are bringing in. Of course, Darnold is not Rodgers, but if this system is not for him, you move on and you can look for a QB after this season. Douglas and Saleh will get to bring in their QB and then it is on them to develop a young QB or bring in a veteran that can run the offense.

One other thing, he runs a 4-3. So the Jets are likely going to be switching schemes on defense. With it being one of the worst in the league, it's easier to make that move now.

Agree w/this other than like I said, I'm ambivalent about Darnold as to if he has more value to us or what he would return IF another team is desperate. I also lean to keeping him now that we have this new braintrust.

However, the HUGE thing here is to get Sewell esp w/Becton.
Protection is critical.

I would guess so, honestly not sure, but the Niners are getting two comp picks so would lean yes.
Good pt!
Are those picks from us or do they just get produced by the league?
Where are they slotted?

Let's be clear here.
If we don't take him Sewell is GONE at 3.
Everybody and his brother knows it.
There is no coy overture of
hey, why not pay to move up and see what happens?

And like I said, there is virtually zero chance any offer we can expect will return more than being headache free that we have an ultimate stud LT, barring injury for the next 6-7 yrs most likely.

Remember D'Brick Ferguson?
Like that but much, much, much better.
And enhanced b'c w/Becton.

Don't be greedy.
Grab the sure thing.
Use other assets to gamble.

if bienemy doesn't get hired i will be enraged

At this point, I have to assume he’s not much of an interview. Either that, or teams question his impact in KC with Mahomes at QB and Reid calling plays with an outstanding group of talented offensive weapons. He’s on a lot of lists and never seems to get the job. I know the Rooney rule exists, but other minorities have been hired and been long tenured.

I like the Saleh hire. He looks and talks the part. He’s done very well in his role in SF. The Jets will finally get some passion back at HC after the comatose Bowles and Gase.

I won’t go too crazy though. He’s a first time HC so I’m not doing backflips. That can mean you found a wunderkid or someone that lacks experience. There are no guarantees and the jury is very much still out. All early rumblings though are positive, and the Jets were among the first or the first to make a hire which leads me to believe they got their man and not their 3rd or 4th choice.
