Forty-six players invited to Hockey Canada's World Juniors selection camp - TSN.caHockey Canada’s selection camp - run by head coach Andre Tourigny - goes from Nov. 16 through Dec. 13 in a cohort bubble in Red Deer, AB, with practices, three intrasquad games and six games against a team of U SPORTS all-stars.
If somehow Lafreniere gets lent to this team, it will be the best team since 2005, when we had Crosby, Carter, Price, etc.
The late start to the season gives a unique opportunity to some players who normally already be in the NHL.
Finally, a WJC that might actually be a best on best of the U20 players. Pumped!
Pretty poor coaching was to blame, I wouldn’t blame the roster. You have a team with Mackinnon, Scheifele, Halifax-level Drouin and RNH and you can’t medal I think you need to hang up the whistle. You realize this happened in 2013 due to the lockout, right? And Canada didn't medal.

Didn’t have a shot at making the team this year regardless. No Jacob Perreault? Wasn't he on the initial invite list?

about 8 years since we have seen a dream team World Juniors! I think that good enough reason for a "finally... Pumped! I'm pumped.
and you do realize that a locked-out WJC has happened twice previously to 2013, right? And you do know who walked away with the Gold medal both times, right?
There are no guarantees that Canada wins 2021 if all players available do in fact play come Christmas time, but they would be prohibitive favorites.
Bigger name goaltending. Better goaltending will be determined in the tournament. Canada has a month to find the hottest hand. If Canada gets Lafrieniere,Dach, and Byram all back it is a pretty ridiculous group of talent.I still think USA has better chance...better goaltending by a mile and that's a big factor. Who knows if NHL guys like Hughes, Zegras, Turcotte, etc. decide to play as well.

I think the Q players will have an advantage at camp because they’ve been skating for months.I like the way that Hockey Canada is doing this. Essentially there will be two teams so there should be some decent competition.
The only first round picks to not get an invite are Tracey, Neighbours, Perreault, and Wiesblatt. Perreault not getting an invitation is surprising but it doesn't necessarily mean much given that a few other late first round forwards didn't get invitations. It does seem a little strange though when considering that Perreault also didn't make any of the U18 teams. Maybe he goes to USA.
Dach is a nice add, even if it ends up being just for camp. A lot of these players could use as competitive an environment as possible given the current situation. Renney sounded somewhat optimistic that Lafreniere could be loaned as well. I'd be surprised to see him even at the camp.
This situation definitely helps a guy like Power who would be otherwise pretty foreign to the coaching staff. Would not be surprised at all if he makes the team given that he's a 2002.
It's nice to get some WJC news. Hoping for a good tournament. On paper Canada looks to have a very strong team, it will be interesting to see how well people are playing come December.
