GDT: 2021-22 season game 9 LA Kings vs Buffalo Sabres @1:00pm 10/31/21

No, that's exactly my point. What greater way to instill fear of failure than consistently reducing ice time for the kids? Pretty much regardless of play it seems.
Who said anything about fear of failure? Its more about fear of taking chances because that's not my role -- someone else's job.

I liked that our Swedes got to play...Grundstrom,Andersson to go with Kempe and Bjornfot...and Kupari is looking better and better...like Maatta too and Yafallo has looked good the last few games

Kinda what I'm seeing as the identity of this team is not super tough or super skilled, but a team just full of puck hounds. Top to bottom, they HOLD on to the puck, rarely give up possession, and scrap and grind to get it back. Even during the losing streak this was pretty evident.

The reason a player like Vilardi and even Kalieyev today got demoted and scratched is because they simply do not hold on to possession in the zone. The reason Brown is on the top line is because, fobbles and all, he keeps possession in the zone.

As for the former players, hoping they can turn it around a keep growing!

To be fair to Clague, he has always looked at the very least competent when given a chance, garbage preseason notwithstanding. Nobody on the active roster right now makes his break out passes. When it's time, cut Maatta and keep Clague up. Especially since he can play right or left side. I think he and Mikey were a pairing in Ontario once upon a time.

imagine that...playing Clague real minutes with good partners instead of shit minutes with Olli Maatta allows him to get in the flow of the game and use his skillset.

There's no one around here saying that, is there? :sarcasm:

So our top minutes on defense were Anderson at 20, Bjornfot at 19 and Clague at 18. So we still going with TM hates rookies and doesn’t play them?

Yes, what the f*** are his other options? He's playing every vet he has.

Thank god he demoted Kaliyev though, that'll help that dumb kid learn that when he's actually making the effort to cover someone else's error on the PP it's all his fault no matter how hard he tries.

Maybe someone told TM Arty wasn't actually 34 years old.

Kopitar with 24 and Brown with 22 minutes on the back-to-back though, great management

The telecast was also desynced from the audio for me, that was a tough one to watch hearing the call like a second before the action

So Vilardi was scratched yesterday and in covid protocol today. Non issue.

Kaliyev swaps positions with Andersson and both end up with around 14 minutes. Non issue.

Kupari is playing a decent amount as well. Lizzotte and Lemieux working hard with an effective sub-10 minute game.

I have zero problem with bench management the last couple games. Youth is being rotated in and out and given a variety of opportunities, and we are winning. I don’t think complaints about ice time this weekend fits the larger narrative about TM at all. The team is still emerging. We have too many forwards and there’ll be some tinkering while still trying to secure wins.

I'm a little more scared that Arvidsson was taking warmups before getting pulled for Covid protocol, really. That's gonna be interesting to monitor the next few days, luckily not on the road again until the 8th
