Everyone is talking about Leah but Melrose sounds half dead.

Heck of a period from the entire team. Iafallo had more jump and hopefully can build off of it. 3rd line played well. Stetcher looked solid. If a dman isnt an offensive dynamo the less you hear his name the better.

I think Leah is pretty knowledgeable and I like her insights more than most things I hear on the sportsnet broadcasts, but her tone just doesn't fit. The tough thing for me is that it feels like she took advise on how to sound as a play by play person and she seems almost lacking in personality because of it. She has loosened up a bit as the season has progressed, but yeah it's still not great. That being said, give me her over Faust any day of the week.

That's what it is is. Her tone. ....But, isn't that just us not being use to a woman doing the play by play? I mean, I can think of plenty of male announcers where I dislike their voice as well. Just playing devils advocate.

Well, the kids are looking good. We just need more of these steps taken. It's the number one thing the team can do to improve. Moreso than anything else, even changing the powerplay structure. Every little step the kids take pays massive dividends as long as we have the veterans in place. If just a couple of kids can show top 6 caliber play consistently, the team would see a massive boost.

Leah would be a really good color commentator. She definitely has the inflection and enthusiastic tone to break down play analysis. Play-by-play is just an awkward and forced fit for her.

No, it's not tone in that manner. It's that it feels like she is calling a badminton match for NPR. She just is lacking in emotion and seems restrained, which is why it feels like she took bad advise because sometimes you hear some personality break through. Hockey has such an emotional aspect that the play by play person needs to change tones to fit the flow of the game.

He does....and twice, he said about the Kings "I like their size and toughness" WTF? What size? Toughness? They have been playing reasonably physical, but would not call them tough.

Kaliyev looks good on the 2nd line, but he looks to have some pretty good synergy with Vilardi on the powerplay. The next time lines get mixed up it would be neat to see them together. Arty has the best shot we've seen from a young guy in a while, and Gabe's passing can be unreal at times.
