Kempe has been quiet since he returned from covid
He has had some really strong backchecks, but the funny thing is that while his goals are way up, the overall quality of his play really hasn't been that good.

I am a little nervous about the cost of his new deal.

Byfield looks pretty slow in general. Not seeing that speed we used to see a while ago in pre season. His confidence must be great

Giod I LOVE Lemieux stepping in there, it's the best. Someone always feels so tough going after Lizotte then they go completely limp when Pepe shows up. It's uncanny

Pepe looking at the back of Bouchard's jersey like "who the f*** are you"
Agreed only thing I dont like is when he goes off for 5 sticking up for his teammates = he's too valuable of a player to lose for long stretches

Brown looks terrible but I don't think it can completely excuse that QB himself looks very meh too.

He is only what 15-20 games into his NHL career, he is going through stuff that he should have gone through last year in a throw-away year and maybe not right now for a team trying to make the playoffs. Man I wish they had done what everyone else does with their top picks and just had him up all of last year. This teams love of the AHL for high end prospects has done more damage than good.

If he's 70 games into his NHL career instead of 20 it's a different player.

3 or 4 plays tonight roy and danault have shut mcdavid down by just standing calm in front of him and taking his space and ignoring the handling

unfortunately the mentality Is prevalent in the fan base too. Byfield looks pretty useless but it does make you wonder how much of that is confidence from his line mates. He’s not getting a chance to succeed but he isn’t doing much to force the coaches hand either.

seen a few nice backchecks from byfield but yeah nothing doing offensively
