GDT: 2021-22 season game 21 LA Kings vs Anaheim Ducks @7:30pm 11/30/21

It's interesting to me that it's so taboo to have san offensive D man who's below average defensively but nobody bats an eye about a defenseman who can go 2 years between scoring goals.
I don't expect defensemen to score. I expect them to help prevent scoring. I'm happy when they do though. If they can't defend, they're just a 4th forward.

Didn’t he stomp on her too when she was down?
Corvo was accused of grabbing a female patron’s buttocks at a downtown Boston restaurant and lounge about 1:30 a.m. Nov. 13, according to the police report.

He was asked to leave the restaurant, but returned a short time later and punched the Boston woman in the face, the report said.
The woman collapsed, and Corvo allegedly kicked her several times before fleeing to a nearby pub. The woman, now 35, was present in the courtroom and gave a statement that detailed the effects the attack has had on her, Procopio said

Could you imagine if this happened nowadays? His career would've been over for sure.

Corvo also had the most brutal giveaway I've seen by a defenseman during a 5-on-3 powerplay, leading to a 2-on-1 against.

Was that his tape-to-tape pass to Kirk Maltby, which then resulted in the creation of the corvosucks.com website?

The Red Wings took a 2-1 lead with 14:01 left in regulation. Kings defenseman Joe Corvo tried to pass the puck out of his own zone and it was intercepted in the high slot by Maltby, who swooped in alone on Garon and beat him to the stick side for his 20th career short-handed goal. It was Maltby's first point this season.

Maybe? My memory is getting fuzzy on certain things. I remember it quite a bit differently. I remember the Kings in the attacking zone during a 5-on-3, and Corvo gave the puck away leading to a 5-on-3 shorthanded goal against. Plus I remember it being against Phoenix.

But that was one play 16+ years ago on a player I already thought sucked. Unfortunately I don't remember it as clearly as I should to be more helpful (or maybe it's just PTSD)

Corvo was a polarizing figure. Also found this quote from Maltby, who was in disbelief of Corvo's pass to him.
"I was just kind of reading the play to see what was going on,'' Maltby said. "I wasn't sure if he was going to actually try to make the pass, and when he did, I was fortunate that he didn't get a lot on it. It almost was like he was passing it to me, so I was able to step in and go in alone. I had almost too much time to think about what I was going to do.''

Watching the Flames vs Ducks. It’s like watching the Kings in 2012. Lewis got an assist and Richardson looks sharp.

Hate to say it but the Ducks got some promising young pieces, vets that give a shit, and organizationally looks like everyone is in lockstep.

Both teams miles ahead of the Kings, sad to say.

Ducks six leading forward scorers have 107 pts. Kings have 82 pts. Absolutely pathetic.

In the last 10 years, only 2 King forwards developed in the AHL, have topped 20 goals; Toffoli and Pearson.I went back to Kopi's first year, when he was age 19 (2006-07) to see what the supporting cast was; who were the veteran leaders. Was Cammalleri, Frolov, Brown was in his 3rd year....Armstrong, Avery, Craig Conroy's last yr in LA, Scott Thornton...Blake and Visnovsky.

So, a 19 year old Kopitar had 20 goals and 41 assists for 3rg in team scoring. So, it's been 15 years, since a King rookie played a significant role as a scoring forward. Toffoli and Pearson were 3rd liners when they came up and both took a few seasons to top 20 goals.

15 years. Not a single King rookie forward played a significant role in scoring. Kempe's 16 goals and 21 assists, was his 2nd year and he only managed that, as Carter was out and he played with Toffoli and Pearson. Did a pretty admirable job, at age 20. However, he's never again topped those numbers.
However, consider this: Kempe had 25 games under his belt the year before and they gave him a shot to be second line center (not by their choice, if Carter was not injured) and he succeeded. Go figure. Put a young player in a position to succceed, with 2 good wingers; Toffoli and Pearson and he succeeded...and was his best year.

"Paging Quinton Byfield" Please change this putridocrity !! Oh crap, well first go to Ontario for a week or so and come back and play 3rd line center with AA, Moore or Lias Andersson and good luck! PP time? Well, you're going to have to supplant a veteran like Brown or Danault. Good luck, as Brown has 2 or 3 PP points in his last 60 games, so he's due for a break and the points will start coming. So he's not moving. Danault signed here to get some offensive opportunities and need him on faceoffs....so sorry, there.

Arty, maybe Lizotte will give you 1 decent feed a night....so must bury that one chance, or create your own. Lemieux will be back in 3 games, so maybe there's 2 or 3 chances. And, Lizotte is not there, to get you the puck...you're all to grind, cycle and keep possession. Learn it, kid. If we had Zegras, he's be learning that too. He's not going to be long for this league, you'll see. A flash in the pan, without knowing the importance of the cycle and possession.

Kupari? Great tools, decent shot, great speed, good size, decent compete, good backchecking....but nothing to show for it. With the Reign, you would lead them in scoring, or right there with Frk. In Liiga, I'm sure you're good for 40 points. In Anaheim, I'm sure you'd be good for 30 points, somehow.

JAD? Great rookie season, going between Taxi squad and playing 4th line....some nights, the best line, with Moore and Grundstrom. Hey, you're back in the AHL. We resigned AA and Lizotte cannot be replaced. Score some goals down there son and be a PPG player. Maybe, you'll get a cup of coffee in a few months - maybe not.
