I would rather have Coe, Colangelo or Groshev
Cuylle is a much bigger hitter than those 3 though. I am not even sure if Colangelo or Coe are even that physical. Cuylle plays very similar to Tom Wilson and there is value in adding a player like that.

The sens could use a few more big hitters in their prospect pool. Tkachuk should have a few more hyper physical players with him.

less physical but are all big bodied power forwards with some offensive upside and sandpaper to their games

I find it hard to believe that so many think that LA will pass on Byfield, I don't see it myself. In fact, I don't think it will come down to Byfield or Stutzle for LA, but Byfield or Drysdale & I think they will take the big centre.
I fear they will take the more skilled average sized centre. Byfield will be a darn fine consolation.

I think Scott Wheeler might have convinced me that Rossi May be the better center in this draft

Out of the "skill" emphasizing draft people at the Athletic I prefer Pronman. Both seem to miss on similar styles of players but Pronman at least seems to be acknowledging that he needs to improve in that way. That deserves props.

hey, I see this as a win win if we ended with Byfield and Aragorn is happy.
Aragorn finally getting his big center is priority like number 4. So pretty high on the list honestly. Imagine we draft byfield Sanderson Askarov lmfao

You have to factor in that all the Stutzle love was coming from the Kings when they were looking at most likely drafting 4th-6th. Things may be different now that they won the lottery. We’ll see.

Hopefully we get some leaks and inside info before the draft because that wait is way too long.

saw this on the Detroit forum. Basically the chart shows the production curve of draft eligible prospects based on their birthday. Left side of the graph is Day 0 (Sept 16). An early birthday (usually) means better production in the draft year

It actually means the opposite. It shows that draft eligible players with late birthdays from Sep 16-Dec 31 are at a big advantage compared to players born Jan 1-Sep 15.

The reason for this is obvious - players born Sep 16-Dec 31 don't get drafted with the Jan 1-Sep 15 kids of the same birth year. They get drafted with the following birth year due to the NHL's late-birthday cut-off, which is intended to ensure the players legal adults by the time they enter NHL training camps.

Basically the late-birthdays get an extra development year to show their stuff. Statistically, 2001-born late-birthdays like Lafreniere, Lundell, Rossi, etc... should be compared with other 2001-born kids, most of whom were drafted in 2019. Comparing their production uncritically to that of 2002-borns like Stutzle, Byfield, Raymond, etc... will lead to the late-birthdays being overrated. This happens every year on HF as there is a tremendous misunderstanding of what it means to be a late-birthday.

He compares Ottawa to Edmonton during the McDavid draft. LOL.

Paraphrasing here but: It's not like Edmonton when they got McDavid. Ottawa's cupboards aren't bare. Edmonton's cupboards were bear and McDavid was a nice boost. Edmonton needed that but Ottawa didn't.

In the 5 years leading up to the 2015 draft Edmonton had picked 1, 1, 1, 7 and 3. Yeah, bare cupboards there. What a dingus.

So do we draft overager Egor Sokolov? I know we haven't drafted any Russians, but seeing he has been in the Q for the last 2 years, and we have gotten glimpses of him seeing that he's on the same team as Kevin Mendolorian, maybe one of our 3rd round picks?

Hes right. Those picks you listed weren't prospects, they were basically Edmontons roster.

In terms of actual prospects Edmonton was/is surprisingly barren. And they also managed to squander and/or ruin most of those high value chips they had.

Incredibly enough, the Oilers did need McDavid more than we needed Lafreniere. They are next level bad at drafting and player development.

Draisaitl and Nurse weren't prospects?

And when you're talking about a last place team, 21-23 year old players are part of the cupboards, even when they are in the NHL. In the context of needing talent we don't have any young player right now who is in the calibre of Hall on our NHL team, nor do we have what was then a burgeoning #1 C in RNH.

Edmonton didn't need McDavid anymore than we needed Laf. They needed someone who could manage their team. They had more elite young talent at that time than we have right now.

That was what I said.. Day 0 is Sept 16th.. aka an early birthday in the draft year not the calendar year
