it could be his vision. no one should be swinging at the pitches he does that are 5 feet off the plate. could also explain how he's swinging late on pitches he'd normally hit out of the park^He's the type of guy who lives in his head and when he's on, he's really on. Flipside is when he's off, he's not even AAA level.
Wonder if it could be his vision, too. I know his mom use to throw him tiny beans he'd hit with a stick to train his hand/eye, but I see him moving his eyes around and shifting them a lot at the plate as if something is in his eyes. It could be something simple as a vision change and a stubborn athlete not addressing it.
