Which begs the question. Did she bother to contact any of the junior teams who gave him a roster spot, or UND who gave him a scholarship. Or was is just because being drafted by a major pro sports franchise was too much to handle??

One of these has a much bigger impact on the kids life than the others...I think it's the one that doles out millions in dollars, but I could be wrong.

Shouldn't matter.

What it gets down to is.... she's still pissed she didn't get an apology to her liking so she decides to do nothing and wait until he gets a life altering chance at success and tosses a hand grenade in.

That's not standing up for her adopted son. That's revenge.

Now..... before people go off on that.....

That's presuming she didn't do anything up until now.

IF she contacted all these other teams and leagues about Miller's behavior and they simply brushed her off, THEN her letter to the Coyotes was just a continuation of what she was doing since 1996 and it FINALLY got some traction..... then I salute her for her persistence

.

Well, the mother is extremely upset and rightly so. It seems as though she’s so upset that she can’t let this go and I believe she could be embellishing.

And now, it seems that the parents of the victim can't let it go. Does she feel guilt? Self pity? It seems she has so much hatred built up for Miller that she will stop at nothing. She is not thinking how this could damage her family for years.

You both really, really need to provide evidence of these assertions. Like ASAP.

According to news reports Isaiah wrote her a message about his feelings when he saw Miller getting drafted and promoted as something he's never been.

Which begs the question.

It doesn't beg the question at all because the burden isn't on her. She's the mother of the victim, not the abuser. Whatever happens is a result of Miller's actions.

Did she bother to contact any of the junior teams who gave him a roster spot, or UND who gave him a scholarship. Or was is just because being drafted by a major pro sports franchise was too much to handle??

It couldn't possibly be that reporters specifically sought her out for comment and she obliged, then people kept continually contacting her so she put out a small statement.

Shouldn't matter.

I don't think I've ever been more embarrassed to be a Coyotes fan.

Thanks.... okay now that shows she's responding to Isaiah being affected. That's perfect.

Except he's not the one embarrassing the rest of us with troglodyte takes like yours and Jake's...

You know where the door is as well. No one is forcing you to read this thread.

Should this thread not be moved to the KHL page at this point?

No. It's going to be closed real soon. Easiest way for that to happen is for everyone to stop posting in it. ;)

It seems like people are mad at JMC now. I just want to make sure I’m not lumped into that. I was trying to have a real conversation and look at things from different angles. I’m happy for JMC.

I don’t feel bad for Miller because the Coyotes renounced the pick. I think it was a cowardly act by the Coyotes, but I’m not sad for Miller. And I’m really only mad because of the statements the Coyotes made between the selection and the revocation. It’s that interim period that doesn’t sit well with me. It wasn’t going back on the pick that I hate, it’s going back on the words that makes me sick.

It would have been more fair and more appropriate for Miller to go undrafted, than for him to be drafted and then renounced. But I still don’t feel bad for him on that. Just embarrassed for the team. Also not mad at JMC at all for this. She didn’t do it. Miller and the Coyotes are the ones who f***ed up. JMC didn’t.

I also think it was cowardly for UND to revoke his athletic opportunity. I think that’s 10x worse than what the Coyotes did. Much, much more pathetic. And I do feel a little bad for Miller on that one. I guess that’s where my line is. I think UND set a terrible precedent and showed they don’t actually care about the young people in their care.

UND should have done the things for real that the Coyotes pretended they were going to do. I think it’s actually appropriate and possible for UND to make that effort. They have the resources and responsibility to help Miller and reform him. UND is a school for young people. Universities are supposed to help kids and shape them. At their core that’s what they should be striving for anyway. UND missed an opportunity to do good. Instead they chose to save face.

Man oh man. This topic is getting goofy. TL is a great mod! And a very good poster! XX and Fuhrious are my two favorite guys to argue with because they're smarter than me, and tougher than me, but they don't rub it in - lol! I think this is too sensitive a subject. TL wasn't even really attacking JMC. He was wondering aloud and supposing stuff. When it came out that she spoke up because her kid had to relive everything with the draft hype, TL literally said nevermind all that, and said he now understood. He moved past it when he got more info that helped it click in his mind.

We all can't come to the same realizations at the same time. We all process information differently based on our own experience and biases. There's no chance any of us love bullies and hate victims, right? So there aren't bad-guys here. Just guys trying to figure stuff out and look at information from different angles.

Yup, she wants to be heard. BLM. Flame away. Fortunately, this has never happened in our family, but I find it hard to believe that the parents of these kids did not see some signs of problems. And now, it seems that the parents of the victim can't let it go. Does she feel guilt? Self pity? It seems she has so much hatred built up for Miller that she will stop at nothing. I love how consistently you throw "BLM" in your posts to show your true colors. Which truck was yours in the Trump Train down I-17 on Saturday?

Hate to break it to you, but you can remove the racial slur part of this incident and the race of the victim(Miller isn't the victim, FYI) and this is still horrific.

P.S. They do matter. Black lives do matter, even if you don't want them to.

This is just politics now. Let’s not talk about BLM or AntiFa or Proud Boys or Boog Boys Republicans or Democrats or Nationalists or Socialists.

This is a 14 year old torturing another 14 year old, and it’s got nothing at all to do with national politics or the election.

The point I've been attempting to make here boys, is that the kid was just that, a kid. Juvenile laws are what they are for a reason. The brains of the juvenile have not fully developed and therefore, they are granted some latitude, in hopes of fostering an environment to learn, grow and become a decent human. If indeed the bullying carried on past the original court mandates, that would be a separate issue for the juvenile court, until Miller ages out. What I'm seeing is a whole lot of folks who are not willing to accept the law and want to carry this further.

It's certainly harder for the abused to move on and forgive, but it's imperative to their health. Y'all can disagree with that all you want, but you'd be flat out wrong.

Yep.... exactly what I'm doing at this point.

I appreciated you constructing that timeline earlier in the thread. Not many people are willing to take the time to do that. :thumbu:

I was about here until I read this from Ken Campbell:
I’ve spoken to three current head scouts and one retired and not one of them would have picked Miller in the draft solely because of Miller’s past. One of them said he really dug in on Miller and spent hours of his time on calls with coaches and teammates who all had glowing things to say about the player. But he also interviewed Miller on more than one occasion specifically about the incident and that’s when he made the determination that Miller would be taken off their draft list. “I didn’t get the feeling there was remorse,” he said. “Now I’m not saying he’s a sociopath or psychopath, but basically he said, ‘Yeah, I did it. It was stupid, it was wrong.’ But it was more than that and you wanted to him say that he realized it was more than that.”

Led by Coyotes, UND and USA Hockey, the hockey world failed Mitch Miller

I can't really fault organizations for keeping this type of person away. Remember that it's not a yes/no to Miller - it's a yes, we want this guy over the hundreds of other players available type deal. The pick is indefensible in that context. The lack of homework extremely troubling for a new regime.

This shit sucks for pretty much everyone involved.
