Too bad about Dobson, but if he is going to play regularly over the next few weeks then it is a very reasonable decision. If he continues sitting then it's idiotic. Can't really complain with only missing 2 players due to the NHL though. Canada's missed an average of around 6.5 players per year due to the NHL since 1982, though usually fewer players in recent years. Other teams have it worse this year.

next year I imagine we'll be back in that bracket. I've included Krebs on the not being back next year list. but that's an iffy. 5 for sure.

Probably be back to normal next year. Dach,Lafreniere,Byfield are slam dunks to not be an option for us next year then add in the possibilities of Perfetti,Drysdale and it could add up quick for junior eligible players we lose next year.

Dach, Lafreniere, Byfield seem like locks. Who else is there? Byram, Perfetti maybe. Maybe McMichael?

It;s a shame how many top players don't get to play these days or get to play only once at 17, I don't tend to take the results as seriously as I once did.

Will always be a great tournament though.

Byram and Cozens.

if we lose flash 5'10 guys like Perfetti/McMichael we're in a world a hurt. I hope it doesn't look that bleak.

I forgot about Cozens. He's more likely gone than Perfetti (small, 18) or McMichael (Washington is fairly deep). I don't think he's a lock though, nor do I think that Byram is. A lot can change over these next few months anyway.

Without Dobson the D takes a bit of a hit, that said it is still arguably tops in the tournament.

Playing on the big ice will also be a challenge for some guys we are trusting in key roles like Foote, but the more adversity they face earlier, the better.

So for the record what is the list of casualties per country
Canada has two players for sure

Velenos last game of the California trip is tonight. I read someone say he was playing the weekend games in California and then joining the team though so I'm not sure if hes already on his way or not. I have a feeling hes probably playing in San Diego tonight and leaving tomorrow to meet up with the team. Once he gets there I think we'll be able to start seeing the real line combos theyre going to go with come tourney time, right now theres been a lot of guys being juggled all over the place (including special teams)

Really leaving things to the last minute having the kid take an even longer flight over too. Guess beggars cant be choosers though.

Do I have this memory correct
Was there I time when the player had to be in camp in order to play for Canada. Maybe it was the summer camp, not sure
In other words a no show meant no play

I think this is it. Pretty minor crop really:

Canada: Dobson, Dach
Sweden: Dahlin, Boqvist
Russia: Svechnikov
USA: Farabee, Hughes
Finland: Kotkaniemi, Kakko

Kotkaniemi is injured as well and might not have been able to go regardless.

Yeah I was thinking flying from California isnt going to exactly make it easy to get rid of your jet lag but theres still over a week before the tourney even starts I guess

Lundell isn't playing because of injury but I don't know if he counts.
