As for Ruslan, we very much believed in him when we took him where we did in 2018. Heck, you guys saw how Pronman gushed about him before the draft. But this deal couldn't be made without including him and we understood that. At the same time, he's on his way to play pro hockey in Finland after two seasons of college hockey. That wasn't our idea."
"Speaking of Finland, that's where our head scout is from and Aleksi is a kid we've watched for a few years now. He's worn the C on his chest for that nation. We think he may be just hitting his stride now and he's hungry to make a name for himself in the NHL, perhaps in a checking line capacity. Meanwhile, Justin and particularly Juho just had very solid seasons in Europe and we'll continue to monitor their progress, hoping they'll force our hand at some point on the contract front. Juho is now heading to the KHL - yes, as Ruslan heads to Finland... you see what we did there - while Justin will be taking on a bigger role in Munich with his twin brother, JJ Peterka. "Josh has been an Islander through and through since Garth Snow once made roughly 15 trades to drop back in the draft in order to get him. He's done everything asked of him and has been one of the steadiest producers a team could ask for, often making highlight reel set-ups. Devon Toews has arrived on the seen like fireworks the past season or so and is the definition of the modern two-way defenseman. Losing him and Leddy in one weekend changes the skating dynamic of our team, as these two set the tone. We wish Josh and Devon all the best with the Kings, who have basically made a dozen 1st and 2nd round picks over the past two summers."
"Islander fans should look forward to a possibly very exciting offensive winger in Samuel and we're hoping Michael grabs the opportunity he'll have under Barry's tutelage.
