Avs need to resign Landy. He is the best player available. I’d rather win the cup in the next two years then worry about the cap in the next few years then ice a worst team and not have a chance at all. Losing Landy makes us a worse team

Because that team might need to move someone out to make room under the cap? For instance, maybe the Avs wanted Oleksiak, but needed Seattle to take a 2nd player to create the space and so they can still sign Gru and Landy, so Seattle takes JTC and then also agrees to trade Oleksiak to them for Dong and a pick or Prospect.
If I'm Seattle I'd rather keep Oleksiak in that scenario. Big Dmen like him who can skate are pretty rare.

And if that 1st wasn’t traded, he wanted Chychrun
Where’s this coming from? There were articles out that Max Jones felt he was mislead into believing he would be the Avs pick which lead many to believe he’s the guy Roy fought for but aside from a few Hf boards posters I’ve never seen anything reputable on Chychrun.

I certainly pounded the table for Chych tho lol.

Someone needs to tell Francis the league is trending in another direction, soon those big D are going to be obsolete.

I'm really impressed if Seattle is indeed signing Larsson and Oleksiak. There was nobody worth really taking off Dallas or Edmonton, so nothing is really lost, and now if they were struggling to choose a defensemen or not, they can go with the other option. I'm thinking of situations like Soucy or Demelo - neither of those guys are needed now.

Small creampuffs won't get it done in the playoffs once the refs swallow the whistles. Size and grit is becoming underrated.

Larsson and Oleksiak are very solid choices. Francis no doubt saw the success Montreal had with a big physical D and looks like he wants to try to replicate that. Oleksiak and Larsson is a good start.

Maybe that, also it’s just really hard for them to get high-end two-way defenceman because those guys are protected.

I think Larsson is a bit overpaid, but this is a great start for them though. The defence in expansion were looking weak, so it’s huge that they were able to add to it in FA.

Since Seattle now seems to be all in on the idea of signing UFAs when teams don't have anything great to offer, I'd be all over Larsson, Oleksiak, Danault, Bunting, and Goodrow.

That should help with the Landeksog negotiation.

While they’re not direct comparables, two high-end UFA LW’s have signed:

Nugent-Hopkins: $5.125M X 8 years

Hall: $6M X 4 years

How much more will Landy want? The way the market is looking hopefully they can get him signed long term under $7M AAV.
