I keep seeing people talk about trading for Chychrun. Why in the world would the Coyotes trade him? Especially to us?
The only argument I could possibly see is that:

They will be in a different division going forward and we do have a ton of prospects

That's too much for Brown. Guy needs to be below 16 a night. Hopefully there's someone that can take those 18 minute games next season.
It's too much for Kopitar also.

The only reason Kopitar was under 20min was because there was only 1 PK on the night.

AK should be playing around 19min per night. He'd be a much more efficient player. The Kings prefer to waste his energy on the PK though.

Brown plays with Kopitar, so you can't really reduce his minutes much more unless you take him off the top line.

Anaheim is only 2 pts ahead of Buffalo for worst record in the league.

I expect Buffalo to surpass them, meaning the Ducks will finish dead last and have the best lottery odds in the draft.

Not attached to him, just top of mind because he's a player we see a lot. A player like him would fill a huge void the Kings have. I don't have standards for the Coyotes, who even knows what they are.

Devils are pretty awful. I believe it's winless in 10. They may finish rock bottom.

Kempe has been the brightest thing about this season IMO. Him and Moore.

No way on Kempe. Too many invisible games for long periods. The guy has ZERO consistency. Every time he pulled me in , believing he's finally living up to his potential, he goes on vacation for a month.

Moore...yes. Same with JAD before the injury , he was really playing good. Been up and down since returning , but you can't help but love his desire to get better.

Kempe has scored 2 goals in the last 21 games. He continues to be one of the most frustrating players to watch because we all know he's capable of more, but his drive and level of intensity flutters month-to-month. He had numerous scoring chances yesterday and whiffed on all of them. He'd be a 20+ goal scorer if he showed a bit more determination.

I would like to see

Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown/Vilardi
Moore-Byfield-Kempe
AA-JAD-Brown/Vilardi
Lemieux-Lizotte-Tonka

Doughty-Bjornfot
Clague-Roy
Anderson-Walker

Wherein icetime is more or less equally distributed between the top three lines and all the D 18-22 min.

I want to like Kempe, but at this moment I’d be happy packaging him with something for another forward or defender. He’s inconsistent, basically invisible except for carrying to puck into the zone where he’ll lose it or just shoot wide. In his younger years he was sort of a pest getting under players skins. He doesn’t even do that anymore, like he believes he’s a high end goal scorer who doesn’t need to do anything else.

Kempe is Jack Johnson to me, all tools and no tool box.

Kempe is a middle 6 forward with speed and a little jam to his game. He's the only 1 with some experience and can play center in a pinch. Yes he's inconsistent but so are most middle 6 guys, that's why they're not top 6 on a good team. He's worth more to LA than he would receive on trade. Keep him until his deal is up at least.

rather have Wagner than Lemieux
I like the Vilardi and Brown swap.

Agreed, and its shift by shift too. By the end of the 2nd period last night I thought it was Kempe's worst game of the year. Couldn't do anything right, lost every battle, consistently out of position, looked disinterested in playing anything other than individual hockey. Then he comes out in the third and its the polar opposite, best player on the ice.

He just doesn't have a real identity yet. Lots of physical advantages, some snarl, but doesn't really fit in to any real groove. Time won't run out on him here for a while, but it would be a big help if he carved out a role and focused on a specific style of play.

If Anaslime finishes last and wins the lottery do they draft Beniers or Powers? Kings are going to be in for some hurt

I think the other thing about Kempe is that hasn't locked down a specific spot in the lineup. To be fair to him he's been moved up and down the lineup for a variety of reasons, but the same issues keep popping up where he's too hot and too cold.

Kempe is what he is--the only real problem with him is people expect him to be more.

He's on pace for 23 goals, 45 points this year, which is fantastic considering his usage.

If you consider him an inconsistent middle six guy, you'll be happy.

I don't like the ups and downs in play but that's what separates the Pearsons, Toffolis, etc. from being true top line threats. If Kempe was full Kempe all the damn time he'd be a 50-60 point player. He might get that once in his career, but it's far beyond time we expect him to hit that.

I too want to see the guy who pots a hat trick then fixes his hair mid-fight with Brendan Smith.

And yes production aside I get the complaints re inconsistent intensity and puck control. Again, common middle six problems.
