Vilardi has had his ups and downs this year but by far the most impressive prospect at forward.

He was lost among the names of Kupari, Turcotte and Byfield but he might be the best of them all and with size.
i really hope he can sort out the faceoffs, that's probably what's keeping me from anointing him right now

kids a f***in killer regardless

Brayden Schenn. Hard to get mad at the guy... he’s having a monster season for The Blues.
he's still prone to boneheaded plays, it was the reason he got traded from phili. he has fit in well statistically speaking, but still makes those questionable decisions that make you want to pull your hair out.

You know it might just be your night when Matt F***in Luff scores a goal. Gabe Vilardi is a good hockey player and is only getting better.

Obviously we have 2 cups because of that trade, but I agree, Schenn isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed.

All of our trades seem to produce against us when they play us, including tonight. Except for Nick Dowd.

Vilardi takes nothing for granted. He had to spend a few years in therapy, doing his own study of anatomy and the back (there was an article about that and someone should do a more thorough story on his plight) and see specialists in USA and Canada. I recall Doughty being blown away in saying something to the effect of crazy regimen Gabe went through (icing his body, or something) and who knows what else. But Gabe persevered. You can tell the faceoffs really bug him and he works hard at it....he may never be great at them, but it won't be because he will not put dedicated work into it. I say he will
get better at them. He put in lot of work this Summer to add muscle and leg strength too...and he certainly is a better skater than last year...and has more endurance for sure. I think he went from 202 to 215 lbs AND still improved his skating.

Tonight was the first game IN YEARS, the Kings had center 1 and center 2, take over and win a game. Great game by Gabe, Kopi and Kempe had a very good game too. Several good performances.

Carter also played great probably his best game since the first couple games of the season

Kopitar is reaching Hart levels of play again. Six of the top nine scoring leaders are in the North division, and the two non-North players in front of Kopitar are Kane and DeBrincat.

If Kopitar can drag the Kings into the playoffs despite not having another player on the roster in the top 50 (Doughty is 53), he might have a shot.

Worth noting that Doughty is tied for fourth in defensive scoring, Brown tied for seventh in goals scored, and Vilardi is now fifth in rookie scoring with 11 points, one point behind Pius Suter for fourth with two games in hand, and only four points behind Josh Norris for second place. Kaprizov is first with 19 points. California Petersen is eighth in save percentage among goalies with five or more games played. Not bad, boys.

Up the wazoo!

not gonna lie, when I saw it was Tarasenko vs. Vilardi I thought it was over.

Vilardi didn’t give up on that play even after Tarasenko beat him to the inside but yeah...my heart skipped a beat.

“...skill up the wazoo” - not bad for somebody that people around here called more wheelchair-bound than playing in the NHL a mere 2years ago. Enjoy that pass up your collective wazoos with love from Gabe.
