Friedman > Braun, Hagg, and Gus
Ghost > all of the above

So if we can just get Ghost back and Friedman in, this defense is significantly upgraded.

The fact that they refuse to give Friedman a shot really is astounding, given what we're watching on the ice. There's no excuse for the current Axis of Suck to continue playing over him and every game that they do just makes me think he's going to be another NAK, except without the happy ending where they finally give him a chance and he proves us right.

And honestly, toss Morin back there too. f*** it, might as well. Maximum Chaos.

Sanheim-Myers
Provorov-Ghost
Friedman-Morin

The third pair is sketchy but all the other options are proven to be trash, so we're either stuck with an unknown or a known pile of crap.

Friedman has done squat, even in the AHL, Friedman = Wotherspoon.
Friedman CFrel +2.77, HDCFrel +4.21
Wotherspoon CFrel +2.50, HDCFrel +2.96

Myers in his short stint:
CFrel +10.69, HDCFrel +8.75

Friedman has been solid, consistent and showed progress in his 3 AHL seasons after 3 college seasons, but he should be more than that, he should have dominated the AHL and flashed a lot more than he showed in his 6 game NHL cameo. He's 25, that's past "prospect" age and at the point where he should seize a starting spot, not be given one.

In fact, I'm not really sure he's ahead of Zamula anymore, and we'll see how Wylie and Hogberg play once the AHL starts up.
It's the Red Queen effect, if you're standing still you're falling behind.

Some players translate better in the NHL than AHL. Gus and Hagg fn stink. You let Freidman play to see what you have; if no good then you cut bait.

All he has to show is that he's better than Hagg, and he has done that. Then we can move on to seeing who can play better than Friedman or Gus.

Friedman = Wotherspoon

...is a strange takeaway. They’re nothing alike. At all.

Point was that Wotherspoon is a career AHL player at 26, Friedman played at the same level at 24 in his 3rd AHL season.
That is, good enough to be the hockey equivalent of a AAAA player, but not good enough that you'd write him into a NHL roster.

Friedman is running out of time, too many younger players behind him pushing ahead of him.
And it's not like his coaches are complaining about him, they say nice things but "carpe diem" baby.
