My suggestion with the lottery is:
1) reduce the number of lottery eligible (or the tiered idea is cool)
2) alter the odds

I still believe, fundamentally, the lowest ranked teans shouldn't be guaranteed a first overall pick, but should gave a reasonable chance.

@bland

The league is counting the play in round stats as playoff stats, even though they weren't playoffs... supposedly.

All those teams got to play for the Cup. Being in the play-in round was an extended playoff round. The round-robin was the training camp portion.

I'm not losing sleep over it, but those were playoff games.

Completely agree. The league can’t have it both ways to have the stats count as playoff stats in a non playoff game....... strange.

And if a team won the 1 OA pick, they can’t do that again for 5 years. No more Oilers picking first for quite a few years. They shouldn’t be win shit, if the stink year after year.

This was a fun listen. A few of the Kings’ picks were considered steals. Grans, Chromiak, etc. I think Button mentioned what Yanetti said, that there’s a zero percent chance the Kings would have been able to take Faber without trading up. They also mentioned something along the lines of Faber having the best stride in the draft — essentially, if they had to teach skating technique to prospects, that Faber’s stride is what they would show. They also mentioned that he’s been asked to fill a defensive role and are wondering what else he could do if he was let loose a bit.

Pretty good listen if you’re bored.

I could be on board with this with one thing to outline. That teams pick cannot be 1st OA for the next number of drafts (I would say 3). Difference there is that if a team trades for another teams 1st and that pick ends up #1 it should still be the first pic regardless of if the acquiring team picked #1 in the previous 3 drafts.

Agree with this. I was only referring to a team winning the 1OA and not by trade. So, if OTT would have won the lottery with SJ’s pick, they would still be eligible to win it in future years.

In this political climate , you need to send that kid to a re-education camp

Or here.

Sure. No one's refuting that. I think people deserve a second chance and I hope he's learned a lot from some terrible stuff he did as a kid. With that said, I'm glad we aren't the team that drafted him. This article (Judge slams pair's role in bullying case) was written four and a half years ago, long before Mitchell was a touted draft prospect, and isn't your usual attention-seeking clickbait article.
Yeah, but you had to use your SuperStalkerGooleFu extraordinaire to get that gem ...

;)

We agreez.

And the Czech goalie prospect not long ago who’s name escapes me.

Plus the whole alleged episode with Doughty...

So, my point is we added flavor into the pot. Rest is nitpicking the details.

Agreed on all of that too. The Bartosak thing was a weird one. Still not sure what happened with the Doughty case.

Hey! Some team you might assemble soon:

Iafallo - Kopitar - Carter
Kempe - Vilardi - Brown
Fagemo - Byfield - Frk
Moore - Lizotte - Wagner
Granny - Prokhorkin - Amadio

Tampa Bay might overpay slightly for Mike Anderson, McDermid and Iafallo. Low cost players for a short while (their window, or "horizon").

Possible return (some aces and some small negative value players): Sergachev and Coburn (NTC), Paquette and Gourde (NTC)?

Prohorkin went to the KHL

If the Kings are to play in a bubble this season Kopitar,Brown, Carter maybe Doughty and Quick will opt out

The town's bubble can be seen with the Hubble!

The night owl finds shelter in the Bowl!

The movie screens may show real scenes.

I am seriously trying to figure out how the actions of an Arizona Coyotes prospect when he was 14 years old pertains to the Kings rumors/roster thread. Shouldn't this whole discussion be moved somewhere else?

No doubt, i'll try and steer it back a bit.

Do Byfield, Turcotte and Vilardi all get spots on the big club next season? Vilardi should get the best chance since he played so well in the tail end of last season. Guessing Byfield does since when was the last time a player picked 2nd overall sit out the year after he was drafted. Then with Turcotte the plan I think was to have him play the one year of college hockey then come to the NHL the following season. Do we still go through with that?

Does one of Turcotte/Vilardi play the wing?

What do you guys think about this for expansion?
Kopitar
Kempe
Andersson
Wagner
Grundstrom
Lizotte
Brown
(Iafallo is a pending UFA)

Doughty
Roy
Walker

Petersen

Exposed:
Goaltender: Quick
Forwards: Carter, Amadio, Frk
Defense: Määttä, MacDermid, Brickley, Clague, Moverare

Basically forces them to take Quick, Amadio or Maatta or settle for a big maybe in a prospect like Clague or Moverare. Would hate to see them take MacDermid but I could see it too.

Could always explore trading Clague and Iafallo as a package. Maybe Tampon Bay would be interested?

Yeah, I agree with you, I think all 3 guys make the opening night roster. I actually went looking back through 2nd overall picks and the last to not start the season in the NHL looks to be Ryan Murray in 2012. I am honestly so excited for this upcoming season, no matter how the team does the games will be fun to watch with all of the young prospects.
