I should have qualified that with "drafting in the first round".I don't know about a C. From 09-11, 16 of the Kings 21 draft picks saw NHL time. That's pretty insane, over 75%. Not many teams can match that.
Some pretty good players drafted in that time too - Schenn, Clifford, Toffoli have a ton of games. Then role players like Delauriers, Nolan, Dowd, etc.
And in the two drafts before that they got Doughty, Voynov, Simmonds, and Martinez. Hickey carved out a good career, and King made some big contributions to the cups.
Seems pretty damn successful to me.
I don't see Boko being an NHL regular. Hope he proves me wrong.
what was wrong with Lemieux is LA already as a plethora of bottom 6 players.

But we don’t have one that can respond to cheap shots by the other team. Just not having to start McD is worth the trade.
wait until the hive collective on this board finally realize TMac is a shitty coach. Will be nice to see the reality set in even though its taking longer than usual for others. I guess Tmac is well spoken and Willie D just seemed like a dolt thoroughly which is why people probably aren't fully aware of it yet.

how often is that really a problem in the NHL now?
Just is not worth it IMO. refs are pretty good about catching cheap shots when they happen and kicking guys out of the game. Unless Lemieux is on the ice when said cheap shot happens he cannot do anything. Issue there is than he would have to be on the ice.
So when Fiala puts Roy through the wall or Stephenson cheap shots Toby, you don’t want a response from the Kings on one of their star players? Payback doesn’t just mean going after the ones that did the deed. You do payback on one of their top players. With MacD such a defensive liability and difficult to slot him in very often, we had no one that could be in the lineup to protect the team. I’m fine with Lemieux. He’s probably going to be in and out of lineup. I doubt that he’s holding anyone back. We need some of what he brings on the bottom six.

"Our power play is our enforcer".
it's most teams, just the way the game is played now.
If it is blowout and there is something really erroneous that happens a lot of guys can step up.
I think I was being more facetious with the comment as it wasn't true when Andy Murray said it about the Kings and its not true now.
Unfortunately I can’t see a coaching change coming as we have had far to many. Does Todd implement a modification to the system that does not work thus far or does Blake bring in players that can make it work? If so who?
Out of the UFA crowd Landeskog stands out up front. Plays a sandpaper game while racking up points. Would cost a small fortune to get him to LA
I have not been impressed with Blake’s coaching hires but I was willing to give Todd the Beni fit of the doubt. Just not liking what I have seen so far.
Yup, but we're a bit soft. I felt we've been soft for years. Watching LA win before in the playoffs where you touch one and Penner and whoever else would just tackle you was fun. Then it all sort of disintegrated. The Fiala hit on Roy was 100% accidental. You could tell how bad Fiala felt when that happened. What I would want there is for LA to take advantage of the 5 min pp.
It does not have to be a Lemieux or MacD who stands up for teammates. Anyone can.

Not when our power play sucks. Then I guess we have no enforcer,"Our power play is our enforcer".
I just don't know how Blake could have a front row seat to watching the guy not be able to make a single adjustment to avoid losing 4 straight playoffs games after going up 3-0 and then say to himself: "This is the right coach". That wasn't just a "Well he'll learn from it" moment, it was one of the most historic choke jobs in all of sports for all time.Yep. Honestly, I think TM is a good coach--but I don't think he's the right coach for this team and they aren't going any further with him. They've just brickwalled at the intersection of system vs. ability, sort of like the end of the Terry Murray days.
For sure. In a vacuum i wouldn't be ready to shoot him out of a cannon yet, but given the history I can't even look at the guy without laughing about that choke. I can't even entertain the idea that he might be able to take us all the way. I hope I'm wrong.I think the criticism on Todd is fair but not like where LA is at is on him IMO. The effort has been shit more often than not.
