My uneducated early opinion of team Canada is that they need more of Byfield. They have soo much pure skill but they need more of byfields size, forechecking/etc., puck possession, physicality, etc. More well Rounded team.

It's crazy that whole team is literally rolling 4 lines and not even missing a beat. The Russians are actually playing okay but Nashville's starting goalie has been stupid good. LOL.

That Russian goalie looks VERY good. Wish he was on an Eastern conference team.

Good game by both Kings prospects. Byfield showed hustle and used his size. Took some shorter shifts as game progressed but what do you expect being away from any true hockey for almost a year. He looks bigger than last year. Was put out with a one goal lead with 49 seconds left.

Spence played well. No Drysdale but wasn’t suppose to be. I like his skating. Always talking. You can tell the kid is comfortable with the puck.

It’s the first exhibition game which doesn’t really count for anything, but both our players appear to have started on the right foot.

Byfield looks like a mixed bag to me. Great on the forecheck and overall toughness. OTOH, he's got a long way to go as a legit NHL center. He couldn't do much of anything the few times he had the puck on his stick and he looked lost a few times in the d zone. Building confidence is going to be a huge challenge for him. Rust or not you can't play scared.

Nice move by Canada putting him on a line where he didn't have a lot of pressure to make plays. I would not be surprised or even disappointed if he starts his career in the NHL on the wing.

I'd be more than fine with a Byfield - Vilardi - Fagemo top line and a Madden - Turcotte - Kaliyev second.

Slovakia: Chromiak, #8, second line right wing
Czech Republic: Parik, #1, backup goalie

Honestly not liking what I saw from Chromiak. On a few shifts, he really lacked compete. Weak checking, weak stick battles. Maybe it's just the flow of the game, but that's not great.

i think the whole team kinda folded after the 1st.. i feel like i see the skill in him but that czech team defense just stifled all of them

something to be said about being unable to shine against lower quality opposition though..

He was best in the first. Played with energy, used his body.

He had a good look in the second, but it wasn't enough.

The team collapsed in the third

Czechs might even surprise the U.S. Not sure team USA is as strong as they were last year to be honest. Group of death will be insane to watch.
