Absolutely. St.Ivany over Keane is almost criminal...but one plays NCAA, one plays in Canada. It's always been like this with the US. Very rare Canadian Junior players will make team USA unless they are a top player.

That's not true. Look at the rosters over the past 10 years or so. There's usually a healthy CHL representation.

Debrincat was on team in 2014 and did nothing.
Actually I think he was suspended during tournament for spearing

Yes a real piece of nothing 45 goals in 120 games for the Blackhawks... want to compare that to others on the 2014 team when he was 17. They ignored him in his 2016 65 goal season .Compare his stats to those on the 2016 team and where they are right now.

The USNDTP is a one trick pony. Don't get me wrong, I support them, just see the bias they hold onto.

Poehling-Norris is an interesting combo. Potential for a great shutdown line with the possibility of chipping in some offense. They will be put against the Glass, Necas type top lines and I expect they will be the number 2 line in TOI behind the primary line.

A sub-0.70 PPG defenseman in the CHL not making the US team is a crime? Wyatte Wylie would like a word.

Knight
Primeau
Keyser

. I think Knight should be the starter, but I think it'll be Primeau.

you think keyser has any shot at starting? he's been impressive every time i've seen him play (which isn't terribly
often). he seems like kind of a darkhorse in all of this.

None of anything you said actually pertains to his performance in the tourney now does it?
His one appearance... Bad penalty 1st game... Hurt game 2... One goal total.
Next year he gets cut... People lose their mind... US wins gold without him.

Every year we get blasted more than anyone for kids that aren’t there yet once we are a few games in it shows why some of these “lesser known” players made the team. Sometimes they fall short but other teams have that happen too. A lot of players on this year’s team aren’t NTDP alums. This will be a fun group to watch. I think they made a lot of good choices with these selections.

What are the chances you've ever watched Keane play?

I suspect you feel like you need to be critical of Keane because you think St. Ivany took his spot.

Keane is a good player, thought he was good in the summer and saw Barrie play Flint earlier in the year. I like him but St. Ivany is good too. First noticed him with the Stampede in the USHL. I’m really looking forward to the speed of this team in all facets

Can I flip that around and ask how many times you’ve seen St. Ivany? Everyone saw Keane at the Summer camp. Keane is a good junior player. It is not a crime he didn’t make the team. This isn’t Connor or Debrincat getting cut.

Your beef should be with the Kemp selection anyway. St Ivany is the better player between the two.

Looks like he played at the WJAC last year. I believe I might've caught a US game from that tournament last year, so I could've seen him play. I might've also seen one of his USHL games last season. I don't remember, but I never claimed I have. I'll take your non-answer as an answer that you haven't seen Keane play.

I also didn't criticize St. Ivany. You criticized Keane. I don't need my team's players to play at this tournament, so my opinion on Keane's omission has more to do with the USA taking an inferior roster. I am a fan of the American team, and want to see my country win. I think not taking our two best RHD is going to hurt the team. Kemp is a defensive defensemen who will play PK. He was competing with Emberson for a spot. You don't seem to have a great grasp on the defensemen who were in contention to make this roster, yet you are criticizing them and trying to tell other people what they should think about this roster.

I might’ve seen him....

You’re quite defensive for someone that doesn’t need to see your team’s players at this tournament. I never criticized Keane. I stated a fact and offered my opinion that it was not a criminal offense that he didn’t make the team. He’s a dime a dozen dman at this level. He’s decent but sometimes tries to play above his limitations at times (hey I guess I’m being critical now). Could he have filled out the backend of the roster? Sure. Did he have a strong case to make the team? Sure. A crime he didn’t make the team? Nope.

And you’re not old enough to believe in hard slotting players into strictly defined roles are you?

You still have yet to answer whether you've seen Keane play, and it seems to be something you don't want to answer, yet you seem to have an opinion on his game. I'll ask again. Have you seen Keane play?

You can try to wiggle your way out of your criticism of Keane, but I think it was criticism. The terms you used were negative. No one else here except you, the Flyers fan, has been negative about Keane.

Keane is awful. His last name starts with a K, which is a uniquely poor first letter for a last name. He was born in Chicago, so he likely has a Chicago accent. He was drafted #88, which is one of the unluckiest numbers. Don't even get me started on his hairstyle, a man so poor at picking a barber can't be a good hockey player :sarcasm:

“Everyone saw Keane at the Summer Camp”

Where is the confusion? I’ve seen him play. I’m not an expert, never claimed to be, but I’ve watched him play before and I can support my opinion of the player with stats as well. I’m not in here complaining about Wyatte Wylie not making the team or not even getting an invite to camp, screaming CHL bias, even though he is having a pretty good year (probably better than Keane’s if that’s not being too critical).

You seem to have a problem with a player with the same scoring rate, playing against better competition, that you’ve never seen play, making the team over a prospect for your favorite team that you don’t need to see at this tournament. What are you really trying to prove here? It’s Christmas.

As a Habs fan I obviously wanna see Poehling on the top line. I think with his size and maturity he can dominate out there offensively with the USA stars like Hughes. Just put him in front of the net hitting in those rebounds from the Hughes/Whalstrom combo.

maybe just me, but I see bigger omissions that didn't even make the camp over the names that were cut. none of the names cut where really going to be playing significant roles here..I am fine with it as outside of Kemp, the team makes sense and looks good. Kemp is obviously here to be the shutdown role, but if he looks out of place, what a crappy pick it will be,.

this team has the makings of a championship run - great depth in net, great balance at the defensive side, and a good enough core group of smart, speedy, hard working forwards that should do enough damage to get us to the medal games.

bitching time is over, everyone hug it out and let's come together and root these boys on!
