Except that Cole just couldn't skate.....everyone agreed at the time that he'd have to pick up a step-and-a half to ever make it. No such issues with Focht....he already has the foot-speed to make it in the pros.

The comparison wasn't stylistic it was on expectations.

Often when a player has limited success until their D+1 year (he was passed over the first time) it's because they simply aren't as good as other players around them.

Sure he is a good bet to play in the AHL, Cole did as well.

Cassels was a poster boy for just how much a inopportune core injury at a can ruin a young player's career.

I believe that if he had the chance to put in an off season working on his skating and strength after that solid Memorial Cup performance, we might have had a decent bottom 6-er there.

Getting Travis Green as your coach as an AHL rookie was basically a career-killer as well.

Thank you. Everyone seems to neglect that fact and treat Cassels as an obvious bust from his junior days. Another reason why it bugs me when people treat injuries to prospect as no big deal. Any significant injury in those key years will derail most prospects.

I just tried it, and it's working okay for me. Perhaps try a different browser? Restart your computer?

Sign a veteran centre ...? ;)

Some teams (read Canucks) just seem to draft undersized players who turn out like Manukyan and Palmu, while other teams seem to unearth the likes of Debrincat and Arvidsson. Maybe Hoglander will finally reverse the depressing trend.
If Hoglander gets traded then he will be a successful NHL player.

If the Canucks keep him, <10 career games.

Are you oblivious to what he has done during the rest of his career? His draft+1 year was very underwhelming, and it's extremely rare for even NHL defensive specialists to not have scored at a good clip in lesser leagues. That's 4 games now, and only 1 point. Not a convincing start. At some point, even the longshots have to start showing...something

He's practically under the "hope and a prayer" category.
Rest of career doesn't matter, let him play on Petey's wing it's worth a shot, etc...
