Based on talent it should be easy. But the Finns always bring a team that can hang with anyone, it seems like.USA should be embarrassed. They got taken to OT by a team that's basically Kakko, Jokiharju, and friends.

lol that was some really bad D by finland, you can't just let the guy walk in while you all stare at him and not cover someone

Someone needs to gif the Kakko OT shift.

I'd kinda expect Kakko outshine Hughes playing for Finland compared to the USA. Finland is generally one of the most structured and well coached teams on the national stage.
USA hockey is kind of a mess other than their development program.
Yup, and the European teams get to play together a bit during some of the international tournaments, EHT and the like, which can help. It at least gives the guys some exposure to each other. The guys on US and Canada, while generally superior in terms of talent, they don't play together unless they play for the same NHL team. Same concept why Team USA stopped being the "Dream Team" for a while there in basketball--they had a bunch of superstars that wanted to do their own thing, and they're playing other nations where the guys played together during the year and are more interested in the team game than individual highlights and glory. The Finns plays a much better team game, hockey is a team game. The US has one of the most talented roster put on the ice the last years in hockey and the Finns have the 2nd rate players from Europe, that is how important team play is in hockey.
The incredible thing is Kakko did not lose the puck a single time today, even with 3 guys on him at times, and on his knees. This guy could be legendary.
His strength and ability to control the puck in tight spaces with defenders on him blows me away. I had seen on highlights but seeing it in full games in amazing.
He has a silly name.So what are we all gonna say about him if NJ drafts him? What holes can we find in his game to complain about

"A bit", you've criticized his skating in every post I've read by you on him. If you've been watching him and think his skating's bad, there's nothing one could say to convince you otherwise. But you probably should try to look at how 18-year-olds at this size usually skate. You also said he's bad at carrying the puck in the zone, assuming you missed all the times he's carried the puck in the zone or something.Actually I'll critique his skating a bit. Still looks a little clumsy in open ice, could polish up his stride perhaps.
At any rate, it's not that surprising he is looking better than Hughes and getting more minutes considering the team that Finland has and that he has been playing against pros before this. Hughes is thrown onto a mess of a team and gets small minutes and hasn't played against this type of competition. He's not being relied upon by team USA in the slightest, in fact being sheltered which doesn't really help him "show off".
This is great and all for Kakko but I still don't think it changes a lot, HUghes isn't doing anything to convince the Devils to not take him
”Small minutes for Hughes” as he had played more than Kakko in the first two games with way better linemates. He played 9 minutes today, because he deserved it, and that’s the truth.Actually I'll critique his skating a bit. Still looks a little clumsy in open ice, could polish up his stride perhaps.

Last time I've seen puck possession so dominant was Jagr when he played for us.
