my worst case scenario is that chicago takes turcotte and colorado takes byram
I mean, saying this draft does not have elite talent and next years draft will be better is all speculation.
This is stuff I read since 2003 when I started to follow the draft. It means nothing to me.
Sometimes people were dead on and sometimes people were terribly wrong.
Well, whatever happens it's going to generate a lot of discussion. I think the only scenario that almost all fans would be cool with is taking Byram if he falls to 5. Even someone like me who wants to add more skill up front would be fine with that because the value is to much to pass up. But at this point it seems unlikely he falls to #5.
Blake's success as Kings GM is going to come down to what he does in the 2019 and 2020 drafts. He needs to find a franchise forward in one of these drafts.
Alex Turcotee is without a doubt the 3rd best prospect in tis class and will fall because of his hip injury which is a boon for us. As expect Podzolkin to slip in this draft as teams in the top 10 dont want to wait 2+ years for the kid..
NJ- Hughes
NYR- Kakko
CBH- Byram
COL- Dach
LA- Turcotte
DET- Cozens
BUF- Zegras
EDM- Boldy
ANA- Caufield
VAN- Kaliyev
If i get this right, im headed straight to Vegas!! lol
Turcotte and Byram both available at the 5th pick? I can live with that. And if Newhook is still available in the teens I would love if the Kings tried to trade up to select him. Hopefully this is a pretty accurate mock draft.NHL Mock Draft 1.0

I see Kupari\Vilardi* as future wingers. I just get this feeling we are drafting Kirby Dach. Big, skilled with 1C potential. There is no one in the farm system that even comes close to his potential.
Vilardi's potential is about equal to if not better than Dach. Both prospects are about even in terms of what they'd achieved up to their draft years, but Vilardi's accomplishments were more impressive because of his age.I see Kupari\Vilardi* as future wingers. It's only Craig Button, but he did an interview on Vancouver radio and alluded to Cole Caufield being bumped into his top 5 whenever his next list is released.
If you look at the depth and number of NHL players who enjoyed long successful careers, people were definitely right about the 2003 draft.
Yeah, I wasn't thinking specifically about the Kings 2003 draft. I was looking at these players taken in the 1st round:The Boyle (26th) and Tambellini (27th) picks right after eachother were two pretty big swing and misses.
But hey, Joe Pavelski was a 7th rounder and Dustin Byfuglien was a 8th rounder, so that's how the draft cookie crumbles.

Yeah, I wasn't thinking specifically about the Kings 2003 draft. I was looking at these players taken in the 1st round:
MA Fleury, Eric Staal, Thomas Vanek, Ryan Suter, Dion Phaneuf, Jeff Carter, Dustin Brown, Brent Seabrook, Zack Parise, Ryan Getzlaf, Brent Burns, Ryan Kesler, Mike Richards, Bryan Boyle, Corey Perry, and Patrick Eaves
That's quite a long list of players taken in the 1st round of the 2003 NHL draft who have had significant careers in the NHL. Not many draft years have had that many successful players taken in the first round.
I'm impressed you still see a future with Vilardi.

It really just depends on what Dach does next season, but it'd be very impressive impressive for him to match Vilardi's 17/18 season.
Now if we're factoring in injuries, Dach is clearly the better prospect.
Agree on all points.I understood that, but having 2 picks back to back in quite significant; it's even more magnified that both picks were not good ones.
It even extends into the 2nd round as well.
Dach seems slow. Is he Jason Allison ish?
