Welcome to the Oilers kid.

You were nearly unanimous for who we wanted with our 2nd.

Great pick!

I like it for a 2nd rounder.

Wouldnt take in the first but he has good upside. Consistency is a bit worrisome but I guess thats why he wasn't taken way earlier

So next year he can move up to the AHL as he'll have competed 4 years of junior right?

All of the quotes on him from the Black Book, gives some insight into why he dropped:

Got to hope that he takes this tumble to heart, gives him a kick in the ass. He's got the toolbox and his tools aren't bad at all, he just has to want it enough.

I definitely don't mind taking a calculated gamble with an early 2nd on a definite 1st round talent with consistency/intensity issues.

The intensity and attitude issues are big red flags (I really didn't like him in the Memorial Cup) but you can't teach skill and he has a lot of that. If he can be coached up and absorb the coaching hopefully, the Oilers get a major steal. If he didn't come with risks, he wouldn't have been there at 38.
I like the idea of taking a swing for the fences, enough with these safe picks.
