I want Byram in the NHL but I'm not sure how we make that happen.

Girard/Zadorov/Byram on the Left with EJ/Makar/Cole on the Right would be optimal Defense. Sub Connauton in for Cole until Cole is healthy again.

Waive Barberio and send him to the minors IDGAF. Carry 8 Dmen and when we're healthy we'd be looking at...

Zadorov - EJ
Girard - Makar
Byram - Cole
Connauton - Rosen

Then:

Barberio - Graves
Meloche - Timmins
MacDonald - Alt
Lindholm - Boikov

Man... Our 13th, and 15th best Dmen in the system right now were regulars in the NHL for us in the last few years. What a crazy amount of depth we have Defensively.

Kaut and Timmins will be on the team when the playoffs start and possibly much sooner. (Both might make the team right out of camp.) Kamenev and Greer better work hard this summer.

Timmins hasn't played a shift of competitive hockey in 14 months, and is yet to play a single professional game.

Kaut had 12 goals and 26 points in 63 games as an AHL rookie. He hit a wall in the second half of the season, perhaps due to the number of games in the schedule, but fact remains he disappointed.

Let these guys play with the Eagles, go score some goals with Bowers, Meloche, Shvyrev, etc. and not rush their development. We just signed scoring depth so that we don't have to rush Kaut, and we have like 5 tweener defensemen so that Timmins doesn't need to be rushed either.

I'm neither the coach nor the manager. I'm simply saying how I see it and I'm very, very, veeeeeery sure I'm right here.

Bura-Mackinnon-Rantanen
Landy-Kadri-Compher
Wilson-Jost-Donskoi
Nieto-Bell-Calvert

-I think with Rants and Mack doing the heavy lifting and creating space (which is said to be something Bura relies on by Caps fans) it’ll work out
-I think that 2nd line is an absolute match made in heaven and will give other teams strokes, especially when we’re at home with the checking advantage
-I think our bottom 6 is very solid and may overachieve if things click

Edit: also it’ll be nice to have a good pker like Bell to clean up after the 2nd lines penalties

Girard-Makar
Zadorov-Ej
Barbario-Timmins/Bryam

-i think our top 4 Dmen will be utilized rather evenly though I’m hoping the transitional strength of a girard-Makar pair wins him over if they prove efficient. Bottom pairing is gonna depend on whether Timmins and byram are ready but with Cole coming back eventually, I think we’ll manage for now

It will likely start like:

Landy-MacK-Rants
Jost-Kadri-Burakovsky
Wilson-Compher-Donskoi
Calvert-Bellemare-Nieto
Kamenev

Girard-Makar
Connauton-EJ
Byram-Z
Barbario
Rosen

Grubs
Frank

My guess it ends up:

Landy-MacK-Rant
Wilson-Kadri-Compher
Burakovsky-Jost-Donskoi
Calvert-Bellemare-Nieto
Kamenev

Girard-Makar
Byram-EJ
Z-Cole
Cannauton
Rosen

I’m in 100% agreement on forward lines.

On D, I don’t think Zads-EJ can be together. Just a lack of speed and good puck movement.

I also feel Connauton is comfortably better than Barberio.

That’s a good point, perhaps we could go with the trusted EJ-Girard and put Makar with Zadorov. I haven’t seen connauton play so I was weary about trying to include him

Kamenev - MacKinnon - Rantanen (Gives Kam a shot, and he can take faceoffs for Mac like Landy did)
Landeskog - Kadri - Compher (the perfect shutdown/piss you off line. Landy can help keep Kadri in line too)
Burakovsky - Jost - Donskoi (looks a lot better as a 3rd line than a 2nd, eh?)
Wilson - Bellemare - Calvert (a 4th line that should be able to dominate other 4th lines)
Nieto

Girard - Makar
Zadorov - EJ
Connauton/Graves - Barberio

PP1
Landeskog - Kadri - Rantanen
MacKinnon - Makar

PP2
Burakovsky - Jost - Compher/Donskoi
Wilson/Graves - Girard

I think Joe is out to lunch on Jost at wing due to Jost's defensive ability.

I don't think Sakic is out to lunch on anything Avs. He might do stuff that I don't like. But not for a moment do I think he doesn't have a clue about the team

Why? I'm not even trying to argue. I'm not married to the idea.

Similar to your Kamenev on the top line idea, it’s just too out there and no need to be done.

I don’t even want Graves in the lineup. I think he’s about 9th or 10th on my depth chart, tbh.

Makar
Girard
Zadorov
Johnson
(Cole)
Byram
Connauton
Barberio
Rosen/Graves

Vegas being cap strapped, Reilly smith would look nice on the top 6 on the avs. They got tuch ready for a top 6 role as well.

Well assume he is in the lineup. If Byram doesn't make the team, it's pretty much down to Graves and Connauton for that bottom pair role. Rosen can still be sent down, so I expect him to stay in the AHL unless even more injuries happen.

Also, why is it out there? All he'd have to do is stand there and shoot the puck. Girard and Burky can do all the puck carrying.
