Fun game. In the future i hope they dont sit back and play a trap while holding a lead. They arent tight enough and their defense is too small and soft to keep pucks outside in their own zone for extended periods of time. Keep the uptempo relentless forecheck no matter the score.

I really think that the players are reverting to old tendencies once they hit some adversity later in the game. The way that TMac was going off on them makes me believe that they weren't playing the system he was hoping.

They're still people. It's tough to always be relentless. They're going to have dips. Over 82 games, there aren't many teams that don't end up sitting back and trapping when they're up 2, 3, or 4 goals. It's natural. If it's Game 7, that's one thing. If it's the 7th game of the season, the most you can hope for is they don't break when they inevitably bend.

I know you guys are liking this goal-scoring but to me these games are unwatchable. Sloppy and awful

Update on those underlying stats after game 4.

The Kings are 7th in CF%(53.66), 4th in FF%(54.58), 2nd in SF%(56.37), 5th in SCF%(53.89), 8th in HDCF%(56.45), 3rd in xGF%(55.80).

All fantastic numbers, however they have a league worst 83.15 SV%, a full 3% lower than the next worst team.

Extra impressive given the schedule.

Last to start, parading through Canada in the snow and on the road, back-to-back, 2 of the three were home openers, before finally coming home...

Collective record of the Kings first 6 opponents is 18-7-1. And some of those losses are gimmes because two teams played each other, like Van and Calgary.

So, not a bad showing so far considering everything.

It's game 4 of a new system that relies on the chaos of the forecheck rather than control.

I'd start getting my eyes used to it if I were you, gone are the days of cycling the puck back endlessly and slowly starting the breakout with the regroup like the entire game were a PP

I think Bandit said it best a couple pages ago. Watching games last season was like wasting 3 hours of your time. And while watching them give up so many goals is frustrating, it sure as hell a lot more entertaining watching a team with a pulse rather than a team that was sleep walking.

Look at the roster. They probably couldn't be even the 2015 Kings if they wanted to. All the secondary players are completely different players. They're not getting Regehr out of Hutton. There's no Stoll type at C. Much more of a today's NHL team, but the top guys are still old.

Iafallo - Kopitar - Brown
Kovalchuk - Amadio - Toffoli

Is this a top six?

Can’t keep giving these leads up. I know it’s a craptastic year and all but that is deflating.

We're one of the worst PDO teams because our save percentage is nearly 4 percent worse than anyone elses....4.5% if you count all situations.

One of these games, we won't have an own goal, and that'll self-correct.

And we'll be done playing teams that dive every ti....oh shit VGK next. NM.

I know I’ve been pumping Brown’s tires for a long time now but for a guy who most people had written off as the worst contract in the league a few short years ago, and who is going to be 35 in a couple weeks, he looks friggin’ great.

2 goals, 3 assists in 4 games so far this year.
