Almost like he’s the problem eh? Wish Carter would get off the schnied.

Fortunately TMac has been great at responding to players playing like ass and rewarding those who aren't (see: Walker, Amadio).

Should be noted that nice save by Campbell on the powerplay allowed the Kings to make it 4-1 a minute later.

It was powerful. He hadn't been tested in some time so was a really important, timely save that I'm glad he was mentally prepared for. Came right out like "go ahead, shot."

Kempe and Carter were dragging Kovalchuk down. First game away from them and he scores two points.

And the one goal, I had to do a double take - Kovy was flying into the zone on the RW. Fastest I've ever seen a 36 year old. ever. He really is working harder and putting in a good effort.

Not sure I like this deployment in a way but it does help us play better so...Doughty and Hutton are getting used as the shutdown pairing. The vast majority of their icetime is vs. Duchene, Forsberg, Josi et. al. and they only have 2 ozone faceoffs--toughest minutes on the team with a 40% offensive zone faceoff %. Walker is at 66.67% with 6, and Ryan and Roy have 100%

So long as those guys keep doing things with the opportunity, great, but turning Drew Doughty into ME Vlasic is...a little painful use of those millions. And we'll still have to figure things out on the road. In a nutshell, Doughty is getting used as Vlasic, Walker as Karlsson, Roy-Ryan as Burns.

Doughty playing those minutes is definitely a victim of circumstance right now. More aggressive style = greater need for your best defensive players out their against top lines and no one else could do that. Ryan and Roy against Duchene is nightmarish

Is there a better option? That's been an issue for years. As all the old defensive guys disappeared, Doughty, Muzzin, and Martinez have had to do more of everything. If a coach is trying to win any given game, is he going to go with Doughty, or Walker and Roy?

One guy was dragging him/them down... hint: he ain’t an old guy!

Yeah, I hope Kempe emerges as more than a fourth-line energy guy. He’s had plenty of opportunities, but besides half a season in 2017-18, he hasn’t shown a lot.
